Here’s our guide to help you go to the Golden Apple Archipelago in Genshin Impact, which is also how you unlock the main event of 2.8: Summertime Odyssey.
This is the same additional map that was first introduced in Genshin Impact 1.7, where the summer swimsuit outfits for Jeanbara got released. However, even veteran players who already unlocked the Golden Apple Archipelago back then will have to unlock it again in Version 2.8. You just need to follow pretty simple steps and trigger a bunch of cutscenes though, so don’t worry.
Unlocking The Golden Apple Archipelago And Summertime Odyssey In Genshin Impact 2.8

After the final cutscene, you’ll now be on the Golden Apple Archipelago. Now that you’ve been there once, you will be able to teleport back there anytime via the region navigation menu. you’re able to access this menu by clicking on your current location at the bottom right of the map screen. All of the areas you’ve unlocked will be listed, alongside the Serenitea Pot (if you’ve unlocked it).
The Summer Islands Map In Genshin Is Not Permanent
Just like in Version 1.7, once this version ends, the Golden Island Archipelago map will not be accessible anymore. Version 2.8 will end on June 27, 2025. Until then, make sure to prioritize the event and exploring the summer islands to get all its treasure chests and Primogems.
