Arguably, the rarest type of Pokemon inPokemon GOis Dragon. So naturally, as soon as a new one is released, players are desperate to try and get their hands on them as soon as possible.
The problem with that is, there’s not an abundance of them in the wild and they’re in the higher rarity tiers within eggs.
The latest Pokemon GO event, Luminous Legends X has seen a new Dragon-type Pokemon released in the wild for the first time since Axew almost a year and a half ago.
Here’s how to get a Goomy in Pokemon GO or at least how to give yourself the best chance of finding one.
What is Goomy?
Goomy is known as the Soft Tissue Pokemon and looks like a small, purple amorphous blob.
It’s a pure Dragon-type Pokemon that was released as part of Generation VI (Pokemon X and Y).
How to get a Goomy in Pokemon GO
First of all, it’s not going to be easy. Niantic has already confirmed that players will have to be “extremely lucky” to encounter a Goomy in the wild. That doesn’t sound great.
There are a few things you can do, however.
Clearly, this is an obvious one, but the more you hunt, the more likely you are to find a Goomy.
Popping an Incense while you’re out and about is only going to increase your odds - albeit only by a little.
The event window is almost two weeks, which is longer than most run, so players can take a little solace from this.
Hunt During Windy Weather
While the first one won’t be too hard, this could be easier said than done.
As Goomy is a pure Dragon-type Pokemon, it will have its spawns boosted in windy weather. If you live in an area that is particularly windy or are going through some slightly more adverse conditions, you could be in luck.
Another one that is probably easier said than done, however, not impossible.
Should a trainer in your local community be extremely jammy, they may have a Goomy to trade. The problem is, you’re going to need something extra special to pry it away from them - likely a shiny or a legendary, so just be prepared.
Eggs and Raids?
Currently, it’s unconfirmed whether Goomy is going to be a raid boss or hatching from eggs, however, if it does, it’ll likely be one-star raids and 10km eggs.
We’ll update this post as soon as we have the correct information.
Other than that, there’s not a great deal you can do. Best of luck hunting!
