Hideo Kojima has finally acknowledged the conspiracy theories revolving around him and Blue Box Game Studios' mysterious title,Abandoned. The video game director has been silent about the conspiracy theories since the first trailer video for the game landed on PlayStation, but the celebrated video game director finally addressed his opinions on the matter during an episode of hisSpotify podcastfeaturing Geoff Keighley; which was spotted byVGC.Kojima states that he has received a ton of photos of Hasan Kahraman, the CEO of Blue Box Game Studios since the controversies began. The short teaser revealed that the game was being developed by Blue Box Games Studios, a video game company that had never launched a title before. The company’s mysterious background encouraged fans to delve into various conspiracy theories. A subreddit was even created to discuss the possibility of Abandoned being Silent Hill, which was billed as Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s collaborative project back in 2014.The title had to be “abandoned” after Kojima burned the bridges with his former employer Konami. This is only one of the reasons why fans believed that Abandoned was actually a secret project developed by the beloved game director. The fact that Kojima didn’t break his silence and address the conspiracy theoriesaccelerated the conspiracy traineven more.The hype continued to build due to the similarities between the visual aspects of the game’s teaser andprevious titles developed by Kojima. The professionally designed UI/UX of the trailer app, which is one of its kind in PlayStation’s history, helped to rekindle the flames of the conspiracy theories as well. The whole process was met with disappointment and resulted in a hit on Blue Box Game Studios' credibility. And it finally met its end whenthe studio officially announcedthat there is no correlation between their work and Hideo Kojima. Hasan Kahraman, the studio’s founder and CEO, alsotried to shed light on the controversies, but his explanations caused the people to doubt him and the studio even more. Allegedly, Kahraman actually wanted to create a foundation for these types of discussions to facilitate excitement and expectations for his game and his studio, as reported byGameSpotin an investigation backed up by various sources.

After a few months of escalated controversies, the connections between Kojima and Kahraman/Blue Box Games Studio remain debunked. And the extremely peculiar trailer app of the game is still devoid of the promised content which includes playable demos, in-game trailers, and glimpses into the game’s world.

There are also still no details regarding the game’s storyline, characters, and setting. Yet it seems like Hideo Kojima is still experiencing the aftermath of unrelenting debates in the form of Hasan Kahraman’s photos. Blue Box Studio, on the other hand,confirmed that they are still developingthe survival-horror game and that it has not been cancelled, as many fans began to believe.
