Jackson intended to create an action thriller with astonishing style. For Vaughn, the movie was an ode to 80s action thrillersDie HardandLethal Weapon.

Argyllewas made with a whopping $200 million production budget. In the domestic release (United States and Canada), the movie is projected to gross $15–20 million in its opening weekend. To match the cost of the film, the movie must gross over $500 million worldwide.
