One of the strongest characters that theDragon Balluniverse has ever seen is Jiren from Universe 11. Jiren was the prime fighter of Universe 11, and he was the one who gave Goku the run for his money. His power was next level, and no matter what Goku tried, he could not knock him out of the battlefield. This also gave him the title of one of the strongest mortals in all of the multiverse.

Jiren’s belief in justice and honor led him to become even stronger than the God of Destruction of his universe. His strength came from his need to fulfill his responsibility as the most powerful member of the Pride Troopers and create a universe with peace and prosperity.
However, he had major character development throughout the Tournament of Power, and a lot of his views about life were changed. One of the most important realizations that he had was that he overworked to become strong and maintain peace, which led to him getting bored of the adventure of a decent battle.

Jiren’s Unprecedented Power inDragon Ball
Jiren’s presence as a strong contender was already established when he was introduced in Tournament of Power inDragon Ball Super. He had an intimidating aura around him, and he went through multiple opponents without even breaking a sweat. This narrative hinted that he would be the final hurdle in Goku’s victory as a fighter in the Tournament of Power.

When Jiren and Goku finally came face to face, Goku knew that it wouldn’t be easy for him to take Jiren down. He tried almost every transformation against him, but he couldn’t even land a proper punch on him, and Jiren didn’t even have togo full throttle against the Saiyan. His power was even stronger than Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken state.
For a long time, it looked like Goku might lose against Jiren until he unlocked the Ultra Instinct. It gave hope to theDragon Ballfans that even a character like Jiren, who has unmeasurable power, can be ultimately defeated. And although he did face defeat, he got recognized as one of the strongest mortals to ever live.

Jiren is the Spider-Man of theDragon BallUniverse
Jiren’s strength was a result of the losses and betrayals he faced as a kid. He wanted justice for himself and for others, and he devoted his entire life to fulfilling his responsibility as a strong individual.
In many ways, he was like Marvel’s Spider-Man, who also feels that doing the right thing and bringingjustice is his responsibilitybecause he is the only one who is capable of such a difficult task.

However, the problem with Jiren’s character was that he reached the point in his life where his strength became his biggest enemy. His power made him strong but also made him lonely as he got bored with continuously winning and wanted a challenge.

This challenge was presented by Goku, and it was during the Tournament of Power inDragon Ball Superthat Jiren learned about trusting others. He even came to the understanding that it’s okay to face defeat as it gives a new perspective towards life, which he desperately needed.
