Soldier Boy became a fan-favorite character ever since he first opened his mouth in the third season. Even though he was only around for one season, the performance that Jensen Ackles gave made him the spotlight of every scene that he was in. With how quickly he became a beloved character, it is safe to say that fans were excited when it was teased that he would be coming back in the final season of the series.
The character did not leave on a good note, to say the least. He was betrayed by the Boys, and his own son was trying to kill him. He had no allies, and that ended up taking him down, literally. With this in mind, many have been curious about where his story is going to go in the final season, considering how he is a central character.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has all the answers, and it does not sound like good news for Billy Butcher and the Boys.
Who Will Soldier Boy Align With?
During a recent interview withGamesRadar,Eric Kripkewas asked to talk about what can be expected of Soldier Boy’s storyline in the final season. After revealing that he will be playing a central character and not be on the sidelines of someone else’s story, he stated that the main theme of his story would be that of a father and a son.
You know, what we realized was we really hadn’t explored the father-son relationship much between Homelander and Soldier Boy. There’s a lot of material there, how soldier boy feels about Homelander, how Homelander feels about his dad, and so we really wanted to dig into that relationship.
In the third season, it was revealed that Soldier Boy was the father of Homelander. As terrifying as that sounded, fans got to calm themselves when the former rejected the bond the latter wanted. However, it would seem that the new season will bring about this terrifying storyline, along with something a lot worse.

Soldier Boy is really driven to kill Butcher after Butcher betrayed him in season 3. So he’s just an excellent antagonist, to switch sides and basically, you know, to be with the supes.
Kripke revealed that the next season will also involve Soldier Boy having a hunger for Butcher’s blood. After the Boys betray him and he was left exactly how he started the season, fans will have to sit and watch as one of the most dangerous Supes will hunt the protagonists like animals.
The End ofThe Boys?
WhenSoldier Boywas first awoken from his frozen slumber, he had only one goal in mind—killing those who put him in the ice box in the first place. He massacred his former team, Payback, and not a single member was left standing by the end of it. Considering what he did the last time, it is safe to assume that once he returns, none of The Boys are safe.
If he were to make an alliance with the titular characters of the series again, they would still have a shot at killing Homelander and undoing the damage he has done. However, with what Kripke has teased, it sounds very unlikely thatJensen Ackles’scharacter will even think positively about those who betrayed him.

As if the Supes and their alliance weren’t strong enough, it will be very difficult for them to beat the villains now that Soldier Boy looks set to join them. Even though Billy Butcher is also a Supe now, he cannot be strong enough to take down the beloved character, and there is only one way out of this; the Supe-Killing virus.
The virus will definitely come with a lot of causalities, perhaps from their own team. However, the mayhem that would be caused if Ackles’ character joins the Supes and actually has a good relationship with Homelander is terrifying to think about.
