Controversial Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who became the infamous face of the #MeToo movement, is set to appear in court on Wednesday for the commencement of his retrial. The former Miramax founder was accused of s*xual harassment and misconduct by dozens of women, and was convicted in 2020.

Noted comedian Katt Williams had previously claimed that he was propositioned by Weinstein for s*x years ago and he had declined. He mentioned that he did not know the extent of the Hollywood mogul’s power back in the day and that he was not supposed to say no.

The allegations againstHarvey Weinsteincame to light only in 2017 and sparked a worldwide cultural movement called #MeToo. Many women came forward to report the atrocities they had faced from men in power and several noted male celebrities and men in powerful positions were called out, starting with Weinstein.

The Hollywood mogul was sentenced on two separate counts in 2020. The sentencing was considered a huge win for the movement andseveral prominent actresses had also accused himof s*xual misconduct and harassment. Comedian and actor Katt Williams had previously called him out and recently spoke about the power he had in the industry.

Talking toTheo Vonon his podcast, Williams mentioned that he was unaware of the power the disgraced producer had at the time. He said,

I was as shocked as anybody about how powerful Harvey Weinstein was at the time I was meeting with him. And, how he could not be told ‘no’…I thought that did not apply to me because I don’t care about nothing. But, this is not good business, right?

The comedian mentioned that despite how scary those situations were, he said he would always look at it as what ‘a superhero would do’ and then deal with it that way.

Katt Williamshas always been vocal about the darker side of the industry and has not been afraid to spill the secrets. He went viral last year forhis risqué statementsabout many of his fellow comedians, actors, and celebrities like Kevin Hart, Cedric the Entertainer, and Steve Harvey. He also spoke about Harvey Weinstein in the same podcast.

Talking on theClub Shay Shaypodcast, Williams revealed that Weinstein had publicly told him he would perform oral s*x on him at his agency. He said,

They canceled me for talking about Harvey Weinstein before the thing came out. But he offered to suck my p*nis in front of all my people at my agency. What am I supposed to do? He did all of that, I’m thinking I’m the only Black person on the script—I get there, it’s three other Black guys on there. Whew—huh? I told him no, what y’all do?

The comedian also mentioned that people in the industry were paid to not talk about these dark elements and that he was not funded like that.
