Over the years,Black Cloverhas received a lot of criticism, be it for the plot or the generic protagonist. While most of it is exaggerated hate, one of those complaints can’t be ignored, and it’s the subpar animation of the series. Studio Pierrot has a lot of great works likeBleachandNarutobutBlack Cloveris not among them.
While some of theBlack Cloverarcs are awesome, Pierrot has not done justice to others. The complaint regarding the animation is ages-old, and fans mostly blame the studio for it. However, there might still be hope as Pierrot tends to make changes for the better.

From the very beginning, Studio Pierrot had a rocky start withBlack Clover.The animegot picked up right afterNaruto Shippudenended, and the studio wanted it to be the nextNaruto. Unfortunately,Black Clovernever received the same treatment as Masashi Kishimoto’s masterpiece.
A common myth is thatBlack Cloverwas neglected because of a lack of budget, but this is an excuse as old as time. Pierrot picked up a bunch of other series whileBlack Coverwas ongoing. They were also invested inBorutoandTokyo Ghoul,along with other seasonal series. Rather than a budget issue, the studio took on more than it could handle.

Studio Pierrot might be ready to learn from their mistakes
Michiyuki Honma, the president of Studio Pierrot, talked about howDemon Slayerchanged the anime industryinan interview. According to Honma,Demon Slayerwas a major turning point in the anime industry. He admitted that it was high-quality work with a generous budget.
After realizing the potential that anime likeDemon Slayerhad, Honma realized the need to change Studio Pierrot and its way of operating.Black Cloveranime went on an indefinite hiatus after episode 170. Many fans thought it was so thatthe series could return with better quality, but no official announcements have been made even after more than three years.

But Honma’s comments gave fans hope that Pierrot might actually be trying to adapt to a seasonal format. With the new changes in place, animators would have better time management to focus on individual series while allowing enough recharge time for the next project. Hopefully, the budget issues will also be solved by then.
