While Godzilla first appeared on the screen in 1954, King Kongmade his debutback in 2005. Both were showered with immense love from the cinema lovers and keeping such support in mind, filmmakers have stretched the storyline.
Both Godzilla and King Kong were first seen standing against each other in 2021. Now, with Adam Wingard’s efforts,Godzilla x Kong: The New Empireis set to hit the theaters in no time.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ new MonsterVerse movie recently (viaExpress) surprised Londoners with two huge sculptures of the beasts under London’s OXO Tower (currently renamed as the GXK tower). Godzilla’s sculpture with bristling pink spikes was noticed coming out of the river Thames.

On the same day, a huge sculpture of King Kong’s hand was also seen crushing one of London’s red phone boxes on Southbank. Godzilla’s spine is reportedly around 65 feet in length and King Kong’s hand is almost 16 feet with a head of 7 meters in diameter.

Further, Godzilla’s sculpture had 70 individual pulsing pink lights and King Kong’s sculpture was covered in 30 meters of fur. With such advertising, directorAdam Wingardis hopeful about the movie’s success. Wingard excitedly said (viaExpress):
“A lot of the magic of the MonsterVerse comes from watching these Titans battling it out in real-world surroundings.”
The wait of almost 3 years for a second installment ofGodzilla vs. Kongis finally over and this kind of extravagant marketing is surely pushing more and more cinema lovers to fill the theater seats.
A Lot of Effort Went Into the Marketing ofGodzilla x Kong: The New Empire
There’s obviously a lot of hard work behind such a grand presentation. The size and display aesthetics of both the sculptures took a toll on the people behind the scenes. Almost 40 people came together as a team to complete the creation of both sculptures. Working day and night, the team spent around 6326 hours over 60 days to complete this advertising project.

Both sculptures collectively weigh more than a tonne and took around 51 days for their painting. It took a quality combination of steel, poly, and fiberglass to make the huge beasts fabricated from 3D references. Interactive lighting was also a huge part of such an amazing-looking presentation. Reflecting on this, Wingard also said:
“To see Godzilla and Kong actually accessing Hollow Earth portals into London just really blew me away! I felt like I did as a kid, watching the Toho classics on a Saturday afternoon.”
The director is very positive about the movie and why shouldn’t he be with the amount of work being put into it which will surely bear some satisfying fruits. So, get ready to witness a titan-level battle on the big screens from March 29 onwards.
