If you’re looking to take on additional challenges, Vanaheim is the place for you — it’s full of bosses and adventures. If you’re here, it means you’re looking for some tips and tricks to take down The Ash Tyrant. You’ve come to the right place. We can break down the fight to give you an idea of just what you’ll be facing during this fight.

Slaying The Ash Tyrant

While this is a dangerous dragon, it’s one of the simpler ones in Vanaheim. It doesn’t have a lot of tricks, and the fight is fairly straightforward. It pays to be aggressive in this fight, even making use of your Spartan Rage if you have it.The faster you can damage the beast, the less likely it is to damage you.

The Tyrant’s Bite

When you see a yellow ring around The Ash Tyrant’s mouth, it’s going to snap at you with a vicious bite.Because this is accompanied by a yellow ring, you cannot block or interrupt it. However, you can time your block to parry the dragon away. If you do knock it away, you’ll have a moment to work on a counterattack.

Molten Rocks

Sometimes the dragon’s throat will glow, and a yellow ring will appear. This means The Ash Tyrant is about to spit molten rocks at you. While these cannot be blocked, they can be parried back at the creature.

Breathing Fire

Occasionally, you’ll see a red ring form around The Ash Tyrant’s neck. This means it’s about to breathe fire all over the arena.Since it’s a red-ringed attack, it cannot be blocked, interrupted, or parried. Your only option is to get away from the flames as fast as you can.

The Grab Attack

This attack is accompanied by a yellow ring. The dragon will make a small leap toward you and try to grab you with its legs. Because this is a yellow-ringed attack, you can use your shield to parry the dragon away.

Breaking The Pillars

After dealing some damage to the dragon, it will soar into the air and eventually land on a nearby pillar. From this point, it will breathe fire down upon you and spit molten rocks. To get it off the pillar, you’ll need to target the glowing yellow circle on the side of the pillar with your spear. Once you’ve thrown the spear in place, explode it to break the pillar and force the dragon back into the arena.Once it’s back in the arena, you’re free to resume the fight. After a little while, it will take to the air again, landing on a second pillar. Repeat the process from before to force it back into the arena for the final leg of the fight.

Additional Enemies

When The Ash Tyrant takes to the sky, additional enemies will spawn to keep you busy. When the dragon lands and breathes fire, the flames will burn both you and your enemies.Fortunately, you may use your shield to block the flames. After the additional enemies are cleared, you can feel free to focus on breaking the pillars.
