Genshin impactis incredibly popular, so obviously, some of the seiyuu (Japanese voice actresses and actors) in the game are playing it themselves, most notably Aoi Yuki and Rie Takahashi.
Why seiyuu are so important inGenshin Impact
Anime-stylized Gacha games likeGenshin Impact,whose revenue is heavily dependent on characters, always hire extremely popular seiyuu. Huge names of the seiyuu industry and veterans likeRie Tanaka,Tetsuya Kakihara,Miyuki Sawashiro, and evenT.M. Revolutionhave gotten hired by miHoYo.Genshin’s developer typecasts 5-star characters and directly contacts a seiyuu’s agency to offer them the job rather than going with auditions.
Moreover, it’s important to realize most seiyuu are also otaku themselves. More often than not this is the reason why they became seiyuu in the first place. So they obviously play some of the games they do voice work on.
Aoi Yuki is mainly known outside Japan as the voice of Futaba inPersona 5, and Madoka Kaname inPuella Magi Madoka Magica,which is getting a new movie. InGenshin Impact, Aoi Yuki voices Hotaru (Lumine), the female Traveler.

On July 22, 2025, Aoi Yuki tweeted she’s playing the Windtrace rerun Event with her seiyuu friends:
Aoi Yuki:“From left to right we have Yumirin, Rierii, myself, and Holy Yell (skip Gygax) playing the hide and seek rerun! There are new stages! We’re all adults and yet we’re acting like kids. Screaming stuff like “Uwaaa run away!!” “Gotcha!!” “I’m gonna catch you~”. It feels like we went back to our childhoods and it was incredibly fun”.
Aoi Yuki has been playingGenshin Impact since October 2020. Right after release on August 15, 2025. She regularly shares news of her Shota characters on Twitter and her impressions of the story.She highly praised the Inazuma Archon Story Quest.
