High-quality scanned images of McDonald’s Happy Meal promotion for theSuper Mario Bros. Moviehave given us a clearer look at the models for the characters who will be appearing in the upcoming film. AFrench Reddit user posted imagesscanned from the pop-together cardboard figurines that will be part of the promotion. Many of the toys are based off renders for characters already seen in pre-release materials, like posters distributed online for the film. These include the stock renders forMarioand Luigi, along with Toad, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and Bowser. One of the figurines even features a recreation of the Mario brothers in front of their plumbing van seen on an earlier poster.RELATED:Every Mario Kart Game, Ranked

However, other scanned images, as well as apicture of a promotional displaytaken by another user, show off additional characters and elements. The scans feature new images of movie versions of enemy characters like Koopa Troopa, Goomba, Piranha Plant, and Chain Chomp, as well as versions of the penguins glimpsed at the beginning of the first teaser trailer for the movie. These are our first proper looks at the movie designs for some of these enemies, particularly the somewhat snaky take on the Piranha Plant. The scans also included an image of Princess Peach in her motorcycle-riding suit in a seated pose. The later image of the display clarified the purpose of this, as among the figures will also be pop-together cardboard kits of characters in their racing karts and vehicles seen in the second trailer for the movie. This includes the aforementioned Peach on her motorcycle, as well as Mario, Toad, and even Cranky Kong behind the wheels of karts.

This is a different batch of toys and characters than what we saw for the movie’s Happy Meal promotion in the U.S. and Japan last month. That set included plastic toys based on major characters known to be in the moviealongside, surprisingly, LumaleefromSuper Mario Galaxy. What this indicates about that character’s role in the film is unknown. That earlier set of toys did also feature versions of characters in go-karts, including Toad’s bulky vehicle.

The April 7 launch of the Super Mario Bros. Movie is drawing ever closer. It’s only a matter of time before we see how this collection of leaked and officially-released information that has drip-fed out all comes together for the film proper.
