Release Date

There isn’t a nailed-down date for the 2024 edition of Fortnite Winterfest just yet. As it stands, there is an update for Fortnite, patch 33.11, scheduled for this Wednesday, December 18th, where many fans speculate the holiday-themed events to begin. According toHYPEX on X, a reliable source for all Fortnite leaks, the event could start as late as Friday, December 20th.

Either way, with a confirmed end date of January 7th, this year’s Fortnite Winterfest is expected to last around 18 to 20 days, which is similar to last year’s schedule, which started just a bit later into the holiday season. Last year, Winterfest 2023 started on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, and ran until January 2nd, 2023, for a total of 19 days.

Skins & Cosmetics

Winterfest is always a popular part of Fortnite’s year due to all the new and old skins, sprays, and items brought into the game, and 2024 looks to be no different. Alongside the likely return of some fan-favorites like the iconic Fa la-la-la Fishstick skin, Winterfest 2024 is expected to bring some holiday upscaling to popular characters already present in the game like Snoop Dogg and Shaq. Many of these skins will be on heavy rotation in the shop for purchase. Luckily, Fortnite is one of theeasiest games to grind inwhen looking for a couple of extra V-bucks.

Fret not, loyal Fortnite players, Winterfest will also reportedly bring in some festive cosmetics for free as well. A couple of leaked sprays fromHYPEX on X, including a “Choose Naughty,” “Llama Lightbulb,” and “Crashed Chiller” will be available for free in some combination. There are also rumors that a variant of Guff dressed as a Christmas tree could be the free skin given to all Fortnite players upon the begin of Winterfest 2024.

Map Changes + Items

Many expect to see Fortnite’s map aesthetic take on a heavy dose of snow and ice for Winterfest 2024. There’s speculation online that ice skates could be available for players as an item to help them traverse frozen lakes quicker, and a potential grappler very similar in style to Ice Spice’s Grappler from a previous update. Sgt. Winter could also make his return to the map, riding around Fortnite and spreading gifts and holiday cheer to any players he encounters.

Epic Games seemingly teased the return of Crackshot’s Cabin, a previous variant of Winterfest back in 2022 that allowed players to visit the warm Cabin from the main menu and even collect XP while sitting beside the fire. While there is no confirmation of a return to the interactive Winterfest treat, it seems like Crackshot’s Cabin is likely back for the 2024 edition of Winterfest.
