During last week’sWarrior’s Den livestream,For Honordevs took a deep dive into the game’s upcoming title update and, most importantly, the new Viking hero that will be released with it.

The Varangian Guard will be For Honor’s newest hero, and will be a new addition to the Vikings faction. As well as being equipped with an axe and a shield, this will be the first member of For Honor’s Vikings faction to be fully kitted out from head to toe in armor and ready for battle. According to Game Director Stefan Jewisnki, the Varangian Guard has a “violent Viking aspect” while also featuring a “loyal mercenary aspect.”

Alongside a deep dive into For Honor’s newest hero, Ubisoft also revealed some key details on the upcoming release of Year 8, which will kick off on March 14th with Season 1. Jewisnki also confirmed that there will once again be two new heroes in Y8S2 and Y8S4, as well as a highly requested fan feature: converted maps.

With the majority of For Honor’s player base spending their time in Dominion (60% of all playtime, to be exact), many fans have been asking that Deathmatch maps be converted so that they can be played in Dominion. Well, Ubisoft has listened to the feedback and will be releasing converted maps in Dominion throughout Year 8.

But what about the here and now? Well, for those eager for some brand-new For Honor content, here’s when you’ll be able to check out the game’s newest hero.

For Honor Y7S4: Release Schedule For New Hero And Title Update

Ubisoft has extended the maintenance until approximately 12PM EST, according toa poston the official For Honor Twitter account.

With For Honor Y7S4 now in full swing, Ubisoft is gearing up to release this season’s newest hero: the Varangian Guard. Players can expect maintenance for the new update to begin onThursday, February 1st at 9AM ET / 2PM UTC.Downtime can be anywhere between 1 and 2 hours, but may be extended should any issues arise.

Once servers are back online, players will be able to purchase the new Viking hero for $7.99 USD. Or, if you’ve been saving up your Steel, the new hero will be available to purchase for 15,000 Steel from February 14th.
