Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthwill start off with the party of five companions returning from the previous game. Now, Red XIII is a fully playable party member, and as the story progresses, two additional party members will join and be usable.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Is A Clearly A Sequel. Here’s Why

The Whisperers hint that Final Fantasy 7 Remake may be more than just a reimagination of the original game’s story.

While only three characters can be in the active party at a time, players will need to juggle who is active in combat and who is on the backline. With so many characters to choose from, here’s each one ranked.

High Risk, High Reward

Cait Sith is the final party member players will get during the game. Despite joining later, there is still more than enough story left for players to fully utilize this character and learn how to play them properly. While Cait Sith is a powerful character and is in no way a bad party member, his spot on this list comes from his unique playstyle.

Cait Sith juggles both his Moogle and the actual cat in combat, requiring players to use an AP at the start of combat to get access to his full kit of abilities, along with taking less damage. Being a luck-based character, there is always the chance that luck isn’t on the player’s side, making an overall complex character that’s high risk and high reward.

Aggro Drawing Tank

Barret focuses on taking down enemies from a distance with his gun and excels against flying enemies. This time around, just about every character is given some option on how to deal with flying enemies, making Barret’s standout use seem not as important.

Barret is the best tank in the party and can take incredible amounts of damage and distract enemies. While this may come in handy in later boss fights, simply taking the enemy down as quickly as possible renders a tank fairly useless in battle.

Barret Using An Ability On An Enemy

A Jack Of All Trades

Yuffie is arguably the most balanced character in the game, as the right Materia and Accessory can give her decent health and defense, while her physical and magic damage is very similar as is. While she does a little bit of everything well, she’s held back from doing any one thing really well.

Her ability to damage flying enemies for more than Barret, along with her wide array of elemental damage to hit weaknesses, make her a great option when exploring new areas where you don’t know what to expect. A lot of her elemental abilities also don’t require MP or spells, with the slight downside of dealing less damage than the usual spell.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Every Weapon For Barret, Ranked

Barret is the party tank with a massive machine gun for an arm in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth; here is every weapon for him, ranked.

The Best Weakness Hitting Spellcaster

Aerith is the best magic user in the party and can do incredible amounts of damage when targeting an enemy’s weakness. Through her Arcane Ward, she and party members can double cast spells, which becomes incredibly useful in combat as long as players have theright Materiaat the right level.

Aerith is only held back in that a lot of her abilities don’t seem as helpful as other characters, making her heavily reliant on Materia for her effectiveness in battle. For those wanting to use her, be sure to pair her with an Access Materia to ensure she is always hitting weaknesses.

High Damage & Stagger

While Tifa does have a lot of abilities that deal substantial damage, her best use is applying stagger on enemies. Her basic attack alone can quickly build up and Stagger an enemy, leaving them open to additional attacks from her and others in the party.

She isn’t the best when it comes to magic, but she can deal enough damage to use her to hit a weakness before following up on a flurry of blows to stagger an enemy. Her high physical damage makes her one of the more consistent damage dealers, as a few of her basic attacks can deal lots of damage.

Melee Bruiser With Decent Spellcasting

As the main character of the game, Cloud is, of course, given a large kit and the ability to do just about any role in combat very well. His melee attacks and list of powerful abilities will often have him dealing the most damage to enemies, along with utilizing powerful magic when necessary to hit a weakness.

Cloud is quickly given access to some of his best abilities being Braver and Triple Slash, both of which deal incredible amounts of damage to Staggered enemies or groups. While obtained later in the game, he gets a weapon with the ability Infinity End, which deals an incredible amount of damage and is well worth the two ATB to use.

High Damage, High Stagger, Short Fights

Red XIII focuses purely on physical damage, and while his Vengeance Mode and spellcasting ability can be utilized, he really only needs a few tools to win any fight. Red XIII begins the game with an ability called Starburst Ray, and that one ability will finish off just about any random encounter.

Thanks to his powerful basic attacks, he can generate ATB very quickly and can utilize Starburst Ray sooninto a fight. For those wanting to play the character to their fullest, his Vengeance Mode only furthers his destructive capabilities and leads to the highest damage output in the game.
