In the realm ofFinal Fantasygames, one creature stands out asone of the most devastating: the Malboro. This tentacled mass of filth is renowned for wiping parties with its combination ofBad Breathand critical stopping power.Final Fantasy 16features a fewMorbolsas bosses, replete with status effect-loaded attacks and enough power to worsen Clive’s day. With the newly implemented action RPG system, however, Clive has at his disposal what most heroes before him did not: the ability to move out of Bad Breath.

Still, when Clive and Jill assaultDrake’s Breathin order to destroy the Mothercrystal and allow Jill to find some closure from her past traumas and sins, they come face-to-face with an Akashic Morbol.This is the first boss fight in the Drake’s Breath invasion, but the beast’s oversaturation of aether makes it no breezy battle.
How To Beat Akashic Morbol
You will stumble across the Akashic Morbol early into Clive’s attack on the Drake’s Breath Mothercrystal.It will be located in the center of anarea flooded with waterwith a small island of grass in the middle. That grass, however, is the buried Morbol, and it pounces as soon as Clive, Jill, andTorgalenter its domain.
The battle against the Akashic Morbol is very similar to the battle with the Morbol in Clive’s flashback at the beginning of the game.It will swing its tentacles at Clive in a sweeping motion, and with so many flailing limbs, it is able to attack Clive from any direction. This provides a very easy opportunity to performperfect dodgesandstrong countersto chip away at its stagger bar and health. Work on staggering the Akashic Morbol with a combination of yourEikonic abilities.Ramuh’s Pile Drivewill deal massive chunks ofstagger bar damage, so utilize that as often as you can to drop the Morbol quickly.

One of the most obnoxious attacks the Morbol will employ is launching numerous tentacles from the ground around the map. He will often pair this withAcid Rainand leave black puddles of damaging liquid around the arena. Clive will need to continuously dodge the tentacles while avoiding the goo to avoid taking any serious damage.

Akashic Morbol’s Most Dangerous Attacks
Well-timed dodges and Eikonic ability use will see the Akashic Morbol staggered and felled with little trouble. So long as Clive avoids Worse Breath, the only real threats are from Giant Leap’s shockwave and the Acid Rain and tentacle combination. With Clive’s quick moves, he should have little problem avoiding serious damage on his way to eliminating another akashic foe.
