Bethesda is known for its intense games with larger-than-life storylines. In the Elder Scrolls series, this world-building travels down the lane toward fantasy with titles like Skyrim. They have a sci-fi side, though, which is seen in theFalloutseries.

Each game in the Fallout series focuses on unraveling a post-apocalyptic world. Fallout 4 has a Sole Survivor that wakes up to this new hellish landscape and squares off against incredible creatures and enemies. Here are 10 of the toughest any gamer will encounter.

10Dusty Yao Guai

Ready to take on several thousand pounds of unbridled animal rage warped by radiation? Sure you are, and the Dusty Yao Guai is here to fuel that thirst. This downtrodden bear-like enemy is here to fulfill your wishes of winning a wrestling contest with a bear.

Resistance is futile. Actually, his resistance is massive and has a speed to make most experienced Sole Survivors question if he’s teleporting. Make sure that you have armor when deciding to fight Dusty Yao Guai. Otherwise, the story is the same for most people going against a bear. The bear wins.

9Enraged Fog Crawler

Unlike their ‘calm’ counterparts, the Enraged Fog Crawler has a splinter in one of its massive claws, and that is about to become a YOU problem. This big and angry crustation just doesn’t have it in them to remain at a distance when they see a player.

Melee is this giant shrimp’s style, and they are resistant to a lot of things. Combine in a larger health pool than other Fog Crawlers, and this is the Far Harbor Expansion opponent to avoid if you’re able to.

8Albino Gatorclaw

Playing into some interesting troupes of how the oddball out is actually a strength is the Albino Gatorclaw. The average Gatorclaw is similar to its Deathclaw friends and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Having the largest health pool of any Gatorclaw, the Albino Gatorclaw is the leader of the Safari Adventure. It also hits harder than the normal color pattern and doesn’t let you side-step fighting it to complete the attached quest.

7Assaultron Dominator

Robots coming for the Sole Survivor is nothing groundbreaking. In fact, most gamers look forward to it when they boot up a Fallout game and definitely when they get out Fallout 4. Bethesda doesn’t disappoint with the amount of automation they’re willing to throw at you.

Speed is key with this opponent, and they are fast. That speed, combined with its stun capabilities, makes this a hard-to-handle opponent. Think quickly and react quicker when fighting any of these robots.

6Novatron Eliminator

Average Assaultrons are scary enough, but there is another branch of robots out roaming the wastelands. That series of robots is the Nuka’s-World Novatrons. On average, these things hit hard and have a stealth mode, making them harsh opponents.

The Novatron Eliminator is an outlier in this robot line-up as they don’t have a stealth mode. This means they’re easier, right? Wrong. They have the biggest health stat of any Novatron and Assaultron and hit harder than most, even without the laser.

5Synth Eradicator

Don’t be caught off-guard by this ‘normal and friendly’ face. This is not a Synth you want to have around. The Synth Eradicators are an elite form of Synth that act like a super-soldier of sorts. Like some other enemies, they are late-game-only fighters.

Getting up close and personal is not usually the name of the game when it comes to strong opponents. In this situation, the Synth Eradicator has weaker melee attacks than its long-range arsenal.

4Ancient Behemoth

So, do you like having something large coming at you? If yes, look no further than the Ancient Behemoth. This giant fighter has a large pool of health and isn’t afraid to take a few shots to the knees in order to bowl the Sole Survivor over.

Look closely at each of these foes' hands. They will have different clubs based on environmental objects. Speaking of environmental objects, make sure to avoid the large projectiles this creature will hurl at you. One rock to the noggin is all it takes to end the journey of a Sole Survivor at the right moment.

3Assaultron Gorgon

Throughout the base game, the Sole Survivor will encounter Assaultron robots in the wastelands. Those with the Automatron DLC will have a tougher enemy roaming the wastes with their base companions.

The Assaultron Gorgon is terrifying with a capital T. They have 2 flaming swords ready to cauterize any wound they inflict. The Assaultron Gorgon also comes in with the highest health of all the Assaultron robots.

2Mythic Deathclaw

Gamers will meet the Mythic Deathclaw’s smaller cousin, the Deathclaw, relatively early in the gameplay. Don’t be fooled by the familiar ‘slap some hyped name on the same enemy and call it a stronger being’ troupe. The Mythic Deathclaw actually lives up to its name.

Unlike the weaker counterpart, Mythic Deathclaws will wait until you hit a certain level threshold. Then, the kiddy gloves come off, and this giant will charge the Sole Survivor down with the intent to rip out your entrails. Also, don’t attempt to rest on your laurels should you get an even higher level. This enemy is designed to scale with you and adapt to whatever main play style is exhibited.

1Liberty Prime

Technically this isn’t a regular enemy the player will encounter. Liberty Prime can only be fought as an opponent should you decide to face off against the Brotherhood. Since this is a storyline choice, not everyone will encounter this demonic mountain of mechanical engineering.

With lasers being shot at the character that can eliminate their health in nothing flat, you’d think that would be intimidating enough. It isn’t. This enemy is one of the tallest in the Fallout franchise at over 30 feet tall. Combine that with some nukes, high health, and highly durable resistance. Well, maybe the Sole Survivor should reconsider not going toe-to-toe with the Brotherhood.
