Both films have made history for breaking several box office records, but they are still shy of breaking one record that was set by one of the most popular franchises of all time.Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was the seventh episode of the Skywalker Saga broke the record for the fastest $100 million gross in the world, achieving that feat in 21 hours.

The superhero film held the record for two years untilJames Cameron’sAvatarwas re-released in theatres in China and surpassed the earnings ofEndgame. Due to the re-release,Avatarbecame the highest-grossing film of all time with a gross of $2.92 billion at the box office. Ironically, both films are currently owned by Disney.

The two films have broken several other box-office records such as the fastest film to gross $1 billion at the box office, whichAvengers: Endgameholds at five days. The Robert Downey Jr. starrer also holds several domestic records as well as the record for the highest-grossing superhero film.
