Escape From Tarkov’s newly introduced microtransactions are receiving mixed opinions from the community, with many calling out the insane pricing. The new stash upgrade feature allows players to purchase up to an additional 28 stash lines…for $42.

The ability to purchase stash upgrades was added to the Escape From Tarkov website yesterday, and is already receiving a mixed reception from players. While some users have labeled it as “the least intrusive way” to add microtransactions, others have pointed out how ridiculously overpriced it is to add some extra lines of storage.

Starfield Wants You To Have More Travel Options, But What Does That Mean?

There are better options out there.

Anyone even remotely familiar with Escape From Tarkov will understand just how vital it is to have some extra storage, but is it really worth $42 for 28 extra lines? While microtransactions have become the norm in the gaming community, it’s rare to see any form of pay-to-win microtransactions, or just any that give you an advantage over other players. While I wouldn’t label Escape From Tarkov’s stash upgrades as pay-to-win, there’s no denying that this isn’t just a cosmetic purchase either, this outright gives players who purchase it an advantage.

This isn’t the first time that Battlestate Games has allowed users to purchase extra stash space though. Earlier this year, Escape From Tarkov’s Edge of Darkness Edition was removed from sale. The special edition included access to the new Escape From Tarkov: Arena, and a handful of perks. The most notable of the added perks was the addition of a much larger stash.

For hardcore players, this was a must-buy, which is why there are now plenty of players who don’t care about the new stash upgrades. “I don’t really care about the stash upgrades since I already have EOD,” Reddit userIstarielsaid. Others, like myself, believe this is borderline pay-to-win. “Compared to a base account it is a little P2Win but this is still a thing more for whales,” Reddit userClockworkArcBDOsaid.

If you do want to gain that advantage though, you simply need to head over to theEscape From Tarkov websiteand select the new “expansions” tab. From here, you’ll be greeted with two new features, stash upgrades and co-op upgrade. The former gives players the ability to permanently extend their stash size, regardless of their game edition. Players can purchase between 2 and 28 additional stash lines from €3 euro, but it’s worth noting that additional fees are not included in the price.

As for the co-op upgrade, this €10 purchase grants players access to the practice co-op mode. Both purchases are available to any Escape From Tarkov owner, regardless of which edition they might own.
