The long-awaited anime adaptation of the famous new-gen Shonen manga series,Dandadan, has become the recent talk of the town. With the release of Episode 4, it has masterfully drawn a conclusion to the manga’s very first arc. The response has been phenomenal, with fans and critics singing songs of its praises.

That’s not all though. To mark the insane production values and masterful direction approach of the anime, Episode 4 did something truly exceptional. Very few anime adaptations have managed to pull such a thing off in the past, making this adaptation truly one of a kind. So, what exactly is it, you might wonder.
Arguably The Best Part of The Episode Was Anime Original, Technically!
Dandadananime’s latest installment proves that anime original scenes really can make the episode shine brighter sometimes. This statement is quite literally proved by the thrilling chase scene between Momo and Okarun as they run away from a giant crab with an energetic tune playing in the background. Although the scene was present in the manga, the anime adaptation has well surpassed all the viewer expectations.

Anime adaptations always hold a certain amount of creative liberties, however, in the case of anime original scenes, they do not have a good track record in the past. Manga is often produced by the mangaka along with editors and publishers, but an anime cannot possibly be done with that size of a team. Studio Science Saru was well aware of that while working onDandadan.

Dandadanproved in its fourth episode, that adaptations do not always need to be faithful to the source material’s art style to be successful. Adding original scenes can improve the original work while still remaining true to the essence of the manga. This way, the anime can stand on its own merits and show off the strengths of both the manga and the animation team.
