Elden Ringintroduces Ashes of War that can be infused onto weapons to change their affinity and give your weapon a new skill. This can be used to alter a player’s favorite weapon to make it more useful in their ideal build or to unlock a powerful skill on an already great weapon.

Making sure your weapon properly scales off of your better stats is the key to dealing an incredible amount of damage. Prayerful Strike is one of the Ashes of War that not only gives you a useful skill but also alters what usually may be a standard weapon to now scale off of your faith stat.
Where To Find Prayerful Strike
Start from theOuter Wall Phantom Tree Site of Gracenear the capital.From here,head south until you see the path down towards the large lake in front of the Sealed Tunnel. This lake will be full of non-moving enemies that will emit poison gas if you get close, stay on Torrent to escape the gas and to kill the creature holding the Ash of War.
Thecreature to kill will actually be invisible but leaves behind glowing footprintsas it runs around the lake and through the crevasse to the other lake. The best way to try and catch the creature and kill it is towait in the narrow crevasse between the two lakes,as it is faster than torrent and a few inches ahead of its last footprint, and you’re unable to lock onto it making this a bit of a guessing game. It willroutinely run through the crevassegiving you the advantage of knowing where it will be going. Wait here and try touse a weapon with a wide-sweeping attackto ensure you hit the fast-moving creature.

Using The Prayerful Strike Ash Of War
This Ash of War can be equipped onhammersandaxes, giving youaccess to the skill Prayerful Strike and changing the weapons affinity to Sacred. This will make the weapon scale heavily off your faith stat and less off its original requirements whilealso dealing predominantly holy damage instead of physical. This Ash of War is excellent for faith-focused builds and makes any weapon into a useful option for such characters.
Infusing this Ash of War will also give your weapon access to the Prayerful Strike skill. This deals a significant amount ofholy damage while also healing yourselfand nearby allies each time you hit an enemy with it. Thisskill costs 20 FP to castand has a fairly quick attack speed for the health and damage earned. Thehealing provided is also based on a percentage of your max HP, making it more effective the higher your vigor stat is.
