Quick Links
One of the many Nightlords inElden Ring Nightreign, Caligo is a massive dragon that utilizes fog and ice for many of its attacks. This hulking beast can be a nuisance to fight thanks to its ability to fly and stay fairly mobile throughout the battle.
Luckily, he isn’t an incrediblycomplex boss to fight, but he will certainly be one of the longer fights you’ll go through. This icy dragon can cover a lot of ground, so it’s important to come prepared with a plan, especially when you may not have much sway over your teammates.

Dethrone the final lord and claim back the night.
Recommended Team Composition
I highly recommend bringing along at least a couple of ranged characters and a melee character. The best way to do that would be Recluse, Ironeye, and Executor, since you’ll want some high damage for the moments you can actually attack.
When Caligo flies into the air, the best idea is to separate and stay on the move. He’ll crash down fairly quickly, so try to keep them in your sights if you can.

Elden Ring Nightreign: 10 Important Differences From The Original
Just how much does it differ from its original legacy?
Weaknesses and Preparation
Preparation can only go so far in a game like this. You’ll need to prioritize understanding the attacks and avoiding damage as often as possible. While you’re on your journey to Caligo, if you can find something that does Fire damage, you’ll be much better off.
For Recluse, my suggestion is to find something withRoiling Magmaor another Magma Sorcery to help you chip away at his health when he’s on the ground. You’ll find this on staves occasionally, but it’s likely easier to find a seal with something likeFlame Slingor one of its more powerful versions.

If you can manage to find some items with passive resistance to ice damage, those will be helpful as well for dealing with the second phase of Caligo’s fight. If you’ve got a good setup, you can usually challenge Caligo around level 10, but more levels are never a bad idea.
Additionally, if you happen to be in a run with theMountaintop Shifting Earth event, prioritize that ASAP to gain extra resistance to the Frostbite that Caligo can easily kill you with.

verify you’re also grabbing some increases to Stamina so you’re able to outrun some attacks. Otherwise, you’ll get caught and torn to shreds.

How to Beat Caligo, Miasma of Night
Caligo is a large and rather annoying boss to fight since it’ll constantly move around. You’ll wander into this sandy arena covered in fog and find this beast lying down for a nap.
You’ll have a few moments to openly attack, so focus on its face to do some heavy damage right out of the gate. Once he starts moving around, you’ll want to either close the gap or create some distance to avoid his big AOE attacks. Don’t get stuck in the middle ground.

Most of the phase one attacks aren’t backed by the biting cold Caligo typically uses. Most of the attacks will be cones or large arcs that deal physical damage but don’t leave behind any ice fields, minus the breath attacks.
Positioning under or to the side of Caligo will make avoiding the attacks easier, but you’ll have a harder time hitting its head. If you feel like you can handle the oncoming assault, then feel free to stand in front and hit that face as often as you can.

Caligo swipes with its claws twice
Freezing Tail Whip
Caligo coats its tail in frost and swings it in an arc around it, creating a gust of frost.
Tail Swipe Combo
Caligo swings its tail down onto the ground, then sweeps the area around it.
Freezing Mist
Caligo lowers its head and fires a wide range freezing breath attack, arcing from left to right.
Soaring Claw
Caligo flies in the air for a short period, then crashes down into a target in its landing zone.
Caligo flies into the air, covering the battlefield in fog. The fog will clear, and a massive field of ice will appear above. Cracking sounds will begin, and it will come down from the sky.
Caligo flies into the air, covering the battlefield in fog. The air moves toward Caligo while some ice pillars appear. It then releases a massive freezing attack across the entire battlefield.
Putting the ice pillars between you and Caligo is the only way to survive Ice Blast. Standing anywhere else will result in an almost immediate death.
This phase is when just about every attack has frostbite, including previous ones. Beyond that, Caligo moves significantly more often, meaning proper tracking and avoiding damage will be difficult as you chase it across the battlefield.
This is where the fight gets a bit tedious, so strap in for the long haul here. It’ll get a few new attacks in this phase, but it will typically cycle through all its attacks frequently.
Caligo flies into the air, covering the battlefield in fog. When the fog disperses, a freezing mist covers a large portion of the battlefield.
Chilling Wind
Caligo creates a cold wind and then flaps its wings, forcing the icy wind forward.
Flying Ice Barrage
Caligo flies in the air, dragging a trail of ice behind it, then crashes into the ground, throwing the icy projectiles forward.
Ice Barrage
Caligo closes its wings tightly, then opens them quickly, shooting out ice shards.
Caligo coats the field in a mist of frost that creates small balls of ice that explode after a short delay.
Gust of Ice
Caligo coats its tail in ice and then swings it to create an icy shockwave.
Caligo is mostly difficult because of its broad AOE attacks coupled with constant movement. Once you’ve got it pinned down, it gets much easier to get the damage you need.
Once you’ve finished thisNightlord, you’ll be one step closer to your goals. You’ll receive theNight of the Miasmarelic, which can help get access to frost damage early in runs.
