Despite receiving a “Mixed” review rating because of the difficulty, the DLC has nowclimbedto “Mostly Positive”, and talk of a live-action movie for the base game has also been circling among the devs.

The director of the dark fantasy RPG, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has been conducting several interviews to promote Shadow of the Erdtree, and the creator recently shared hisbelow-par skill levelwhen it comes to playing games, which may surprise the community. Elden Ring Fans Eye Guillermo Del Toro To Helm The Movie Adaptation

In aninterviewwith The Guardian, Miyazaki shared his support for another interpretation of Elden Ring to break onto the big screen, saying “I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example.” A game of this scale, including the rich lore attached to the project, would not only suit one film but perhaps a TV series as well.

However, the FromSoft president quickly acknowledged, “I don’t think myself, or From Software, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium.” This led Miyazaki to suggest a “very strong partner would come into play” and stressed FromSoft would have to “build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest [in a movie], for sure.”

News of a possible Elden Ring movie spread to all corners of social media rather quickly, especially amid separate news regarding Rockstar’s decision not to move forward with movie adaptations for the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises. However, considering George R.R. Martin - the Game of Thrones alum - was behind the creation of Elden Ring, the writer could serve as a mediator between FromSoft and the chosen production company.

Discussing which working director could do Elden Ring justice on a cinematic scale, most agreed that the Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy director, Guillermo del Toro, would be a stellar pick to helm the project. Del Toro’s niche is dark fantasy, especially with Crimson Peak and even the Oscar-winning The Shape of Water. Comments like “Time to see if Del Toro is working on anything atm…” and “Get Guillermo Del Toro in on this s*** and it could be incredible” were expressed.
