Timothée Chalamet is on the top of the world currently with back-to-back huge hitsWonkaandDune: Part Two. The actor has become one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood and has taken over his contemporaries in terms of box office success and star power.

However, before his rise in the acting world, it seems Chalamet had a secret career on YouTube that no one knew about initially. After suspicious fans dug deep into the actor’s actions and compared it to the YouTube channel, they deduced that Chalamet ran the channel, which the actor admitted to years later.

Since his early roles,Timothée Chalamethas been a consistent performer, always bringing his A-game in every project he does. He was inspired by Heath Ledger’s performance inThe Dark Knightand his choices of films indicate his desire to explore as an actor. While fans do not know much about his life before films, they did find out about his secret career on YouTube.

Back in the day, fans discovered a YouTuber named ModdedController360 who advertised and sold modded Xbox 360 controllers around 2010. Soon, they started theorizing that Chalamet was the one behind the channel. As put byVice, they found several pieces of evidence supporting the theory. Firstly, a fan account named ChalametUniverse (viaInstagram) found that Chalamet had liked one of ModdedController360’s videos.
Another fan account onInstagram, tchallamett, compared ModdedController360’s voice to Chalamet’s voice inLaw and Orderand found them similar. With the help of Motherboard, Vice was also able to find out other clues. A photo involving a chair (having a dark blue and black striped pattern) that Chalamet sat on in anInstagramphoto drew their attention due to its similarity with the chair featured in the videos posted by ModdedController360.

Vice and Motherboard also focused on the similar scars that they both had on their left ring finger above the knuckle and the similar pattern of floor and carpet in their photos and videos. Lastly, one of ModdedController360’s videos showed a soccer ball bean bag chair, a type of chair that Chalamet admitted to sitting on as a child. With all of these clues combined, it presented a compelling case that they are one and the same.
They indeed turned out to be true as Chalamet himself confirmed that he was ModdedController360. He also toldIGNthat he earned $30 spray painting and selling controllers. He said,

“I actually had a YouTube channel people found. It’s [ModdedController360], I used to paint mod controllers,” he explained. “I did three. I’d spray paint them, open them up and paint them, and charge people $10. I made thirty bucks [laughs].”

He said,
“This is my mom and dad’s favorite project I’ve ever been in. They’re thrilled. Ten years ago, this is what I thought I’d be in, tone-wise. My mom has been encouraging me to do a play for the last 10, 12 years. And my dad, too, he goes, ‘Wow. There’s a smile on your face, finally.’”

After the huge success ofDune: Part Two, Chalamet is currently shooting for the biographical dramaA Complete Unknown, where he will play American singer/songwriter Bob Dylan. The film will be directed by James Mangold and will also star Monica Barbaro, Elle Fanning, and Edward Norton.
