While it might be true that the popularity of theBattlefieldFranchise has gone down a little, especially after the release ofBattlefield 2042, it looks like EA is finally back on track to fix this decline.Battlefieldhas seen great evolution over the years, especially in the last decade, and it looks like the developing studio is going to take a bit more time for the next installment in the series. The next title will be released in April 2025, making it the game in the franchise to have the longest development period in the last 10 years.

The Chief Financial Officer in an earnings call meeting for the studio revealed how EA is aiming for a lighter release timeline this year, allowing them to focus more on the upcoming sequels ofBattlefieldas well asSims.
Why A Longer Development Cycle For The NextBattlefieldGame Is A Good Thing
The release ofBattlefield 2042back in 2021 came with a little controversy, as the game came out broken at launch. The initial game had many issues that the players did not like, especially those who had been following the franchise for a long time.Battlefield 2042initially failed to include even basic elements such as a scoreboard or a squad system. The players also had to deal with terrible servers and bad maps, making the game feel dull. While over time, EA did manage to fix the issues, it is evident they would not want to repeat the same grave mistake they did last time. This brings us to the nextBattlefieldinstallment, which, as mentioned before, is said to be released in April 2025. The bigger timeline allows the studio to put more effort into creating a game that people will like from the launch of the game itself.
The next title to come out for theBattlefieldfranchise in 2025 is set to have the longest development cycle in the last decade, with 4 years of production and development starting from 2021, when the last game came out.

What Does EA Have In Store For 2024?
Just because the studio is shifting its prime focus for 2025’s timeline, fans should not worry, as EA is still going to be releasing the annual editions of its sports game. This includesMaddenas well asEA Sports FC, which was previously known asFIFA.Many players would also be glad to know that EA would be releasing the return of the long-awaitedSports College Footballseries, which saw its last ever release back in 2013. The return of the game after a decade has got fans excited and has bought EA the time it needed to focus on its 2025 timeline.
EA is notorious for its microtransaction-based business model, but the titles it produces are still loved by millions of players. And now all of them hope for the release of the nextBattlefieldto be stable enough at launch itself, which should not be a hard task given the amount of time and resources the studio is investing.
