Unlike quests such asSaint Of The Slums, where you have to wait for a random argument to occur, the Tensions On The Highroad quest can only be triggered once you’ve completed a particular main story quest.The reward with this quest is great, so it would be worth the effort to complete it.

Starting Location Of Quest
Once you’ve completed theNation of Lambent Flame main questand the Welcome To Battahl side quest, the Tensions On The Highroad should be available to you. After you’vetraveled to Bakbattahl, you will return to Vernworth and head to the northern Oxcart Station. Once there, Simon, the soldier, will eventually approach you about the quest.
Escorting The Oxcart
After you speak with Simon and accept the quest, you willescort the oxcartlocated around theCheckpoint Rest Townback to Vernworth. You will find the oxcart along the path just outside that town, and a cut scene will follow.
Raghnall will speak with you once the oxcart stops and this is where you must make a choice. You need to decide whether toside with the soldiers or with Raghnall. While the immediate effect will remain the same no matter who you side with, it will affect you later on in the game.

Should You Side With Raghnall Or Simon?
If you side with Simon and the soldiers, you will receive thesame outcome and rewardsas you would receive from Raghnall. Whichever side you choose, you will have to follow Raghnall through a cave, defeat some enemies, and bid farewell to Raghnall. However, if you choose Raghall, you will want to attack the soldiers.
Following Raghnall into the cave after you defeat the first set of enemies, be sure to speak with him, or else he might not follow you. Continue on with him, fighting a few Saurians before you make it to a campsite. He will eventually confide in you about Simon’s intentions to frame you for the death of the person you were escorting. If you choose Simon, later on in the story,you might have to fight Raghnall.
As mentioned, you will be rewarded greatly for this short quest. Whichever side you choose, you should receive12,000 gold along with 4,000 XP.
