A mere coincidence? Or a nod to one of the greats? ADragon’s Dogma 2player appears to have stumbled upon what appears to be a hidden reference to Ubisoft’sAssassin’s Creedfranchise.
The leap of faith, a gameplay mechanic that Assassin’s Creed fans will know all too well, appears to be plausible in Dragon’s Dogma 2. While Capcom’s hit sequel doesn’t allow for free running across rooftops or fast-paced parkour, there does appear to be a very limited number of haybales scattered around the world. And yes, you may make the leap of faith right into them.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Players Shocked After Discovering “Fake” Pawn Rentals
Dragon’s Dogma 2 players shockingly find out that pawns aren’t always hired by real people.
Over on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 subreddit,Reddit user TheRealBadBoibrought attention to this relatively unknown reference. “How has no one else talked about this? Assassin’s Creed?,” the user questioned. They then attached a short clip of the Arisen jumping off of an incredibly high cliff and straight into a cart full of hay at the bottom.

While the jumping animation doesn’t appear to be quite as streamlined as the actual leap of faith from Assassin’s Creed, the fact that this is even possible has fellow players believing that this is a clear reference to the famous franchise. “The only time I noticed one of these was during the Wilhemina sidequest when you jump out the window, and I figured it was a one-time AC reference (her mission is an assassination one after all),“Reddit user ShrekInShadow said.
Just like the aforementioned user, there were a handful of other Dragon’s Dogma 2 players who pointed out that this sneaky little reference is shown to the player during a side quest. While the cart full of hay seen in the clip above can be found just outside of Nameless Village, there does appear to be another nod during Wilhelmina’s questline, in which players assist Wilhelmina in assassinating Allard before making their escape.

“Definitely the best spot for it, but this mechanic is demonstrated in a mid-game quest. (Mild spoilers) Wilhelmina, when jumping off a balcony at the conclusion of her arc, is supposed to land in a hay cart exactly like this,“Reddit user FoolishPragmatist pointed out.
There’s a chance that this is just a funny coincidence, but I like to think that Capcom are big fans of the Assassin’s Creed series.
