The Unmoored World, Explained
If you’ve followed our handy guide on how to reach the true ending of Dragon’s Dogma 2, then you have likely found yourself transported to the Unmoored World. While your mysterious, ghastly friend, known only as the Pathfinder, does give a bit of an explanation, you were probably left wondering how you got here and why the world looks apocalyptic.
Since you defiedthe path the Great Will put in front of you, the world has transformed into an apocalyptic landscape devoid of the Great Will’s influence and protection, hence the looming clouds of doom and the sudden influx of dragons, new and familiar in form alike. The absence of this unseen god has ushered in the end of the world, and it is only a matter of time before the fog consumes everything.

Despite defying your fate and ending up here, all hope is not lost. In fact, there is a chance you can still save the people of this world and return it to its former state. From the moment you land in the Unmoored World, an invisible timer starts, counting down to the destruction of everything you know.

Unmoored World Questline
As you look at your map, you’ll see that all bodies of water have dried up, transforming the landscape and revealing baron and treacherous riverbeds for you to explore. Scattered across the map in all major parts of the world are these red beacons that act as the focal point for impending doom. You’ll need to go to each area, activate the beacon, and defeat the hordes of enemies or unique Unmoored Dragons that appear in order to ward off the area’s destruction.
While doing this, you will also work with the leaders in each of the main areas of the map to evacuate the people to the Seafloor Shrine, essentially the last stronghold for all living things. As you travel around the world using the newly uncoveredPortcrystalsand abundant supply ofFerrystonesyou’ll find now while exploring, you’ll need to remove the beacon in each area and save the people before resting at an inn. Otherwise, time will pass, and whole areas will inevitably be destroyed.

After evacuating the world’s citizens and defeating all the Unmoored dragons connected to the beacons, you’ll regather yourself at the Seafloor Shrine to conclude the endgame questline and trigger your path into New Game +.
Unmoored World Differences
Aside from the obvious red hue to the newly minted apocalyptic world around you, the gameplay in the endgame is very different. Since you are essentially on a timer from the moment you arrive, the whole endgame functions somewhat like a roguelite in that you only have one chance to get it all right.
However, if you fail to save a city and want another chance, you can restart your journey from the moment you arrive in the Unmoored World by simply dying. When you choose to not revive with aWakestone, you will get the option to begin from the start of the last day you started, or from your awakening. Choose the awakening, and it will revert all progress you’ve made in the Unmoored World, essentially giving you another chance to try to save everyone and make the most of your time here before starting NG+.
