TheDragon Questseries was one of the earliest juggernauts in the gaming industry and it still continues to maintain momentum all these years later, even in the west. That has become clearer than ever as Square Enix has revealed thatDragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, the latest game in the series, surpassed 5.5 million copies sold.
This number accounts for all platforms as well as both Japanese and western sales.Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Ageinitially came out in Japan for both PS4 and 3DS in 2017. Only the PS4 version managed to make it westward in 2018 alongside a worldwide PC release. Finally,Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition, a Nintendo Switch port that combines elements from the 3DS and PS4 releases, came out in all territories back in September. The game’s re-release seems to have been what pushed it over the edge to hit this milestone.
