Dragon Quest 12Coming?Dragon Quest 3 Remake? Akira Toriyama stepping down? Predictions

Yuji Horii tweeted recently that the event will include a new announcement on “that game”, possibly teasingDragon Quest 12:

Dragon Quest 12was alreadyhintedto be in development several times by Square Enix.

Other possibilities would be a remake ofDragon Quest 3, as Yuji Horii mentioned back whenDragon Quest 11released that the world map ofDragon Quest 3was remade withDragon Quest 11’s engine and used a test in-development.

Next, we could also see new sequels announced, withDragon Quest Builders 3,orDragon Quest Heroes 3. A newBuildersmight be quite different from the first two games, as the producer ofDragon Quest Builders, Kazuya Niinou, has left Square Enix to work with Type-Moon onFate/Extra Record.

We could also get aDragon Quest 9remake on Switch by original developer Level 5, as the CEO Akihiro Hino hinted it in the past as well. There’s also theDragon Questgame with Hiro Mashima chara designs that still wasn’t released.

Lastly, it’s also possible theDragon Questseries will change its “big three” trio. Many fans believe thatDragon Quest 11was the final game with Yuji Horii at the scenario, Akira Toriyama as the character designer and Koichi Sugiyama as the composer. Square Enix might reveal who will be replacing them for the future of the series. I’m personally seeing either Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail) or Yuusuke Murata(One Punch Man) taking over after Toriyama.
