In the recently concluded Xbox Games Showcase, Bioware revealed the next game in the Dragon Age franchise, which isDragon Age: The Veilguard. This is going to be the fourth main entry in the fantasy action RPG series and a direct sequel toDragon Age: Inquisition.

The game is expected to be released in the fall of 2024, as no official release date has been confirmed yet. As the days pass, more updates have been revealed by the company. But there is one news which have surely made fans disappointed.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Won’t Feature One of the Best Characters of the Franchise
Bioware has confirmed that the upcomingDragon Agegame won’t feature Hawke, who was the main playable character inDragon Age 2and also an influential aspect ofInquisitionas well. In the Games Showcase, the developing company dropped a new trailer for the game, revealing all seven of the game’s companions.
Unfortunately, Hawke was not seen in this trailer. This fan-favorite character was a customizable protagonist inDragon Age 2. Hawke also played an important role in theInquisition, mainly in the“Her Lies the Abyss”quest.

Despite the Likes of Baldur’s Gate 3 Releasing There, Dragon Age: The Veilguard Won’t Be Releasing in One Region, and EA Continue with a 10 Year Old Excuse No One Believes
In this mission, the Inquisitor and their companions, along with Hawke and a Grey Warden, had to escape the Fade. However, to ensure the safety of everyone, players had to choose between Hawke or the Grey Warden, who would be sacrificed.
Now, despite the confirmation from Bioware, Hawke can still be alive in the players’ respective worlds inVeilguard, depending upon whom they have chosen. He might not be playable anymore in the game, but subsequent updates might let players know about his existence.

Other Companions of Dragon Age: The Veilguard
As seen in the latest trailer, there will be a total of seven companions in the game. Each of these companions represents a different faction in Thedas, for example: Qunari, Veil Jumpers, Inquisition, and many more.

We also saw another fan-favorite character in the trailer, Harding fromInquisition. He can also be used as a romance option for the player’s character. On the other hand, a significantly older Varric was also seen. However, Varric won’t be available in the game as a companion; he will more likely be a connector in the narrative between theInquisitionandVeilguard.
Adding to that, the game is going to feature a female Qunari companion for the first time in the Dragon Age franchise in Taash. She has been seen fighting a High Dragon while dual-wielding a pair of axes. Here are all the companions:

Along with Harding, we will be going to see Lucas Dellamorte, who is the master assassin of the Antivan Crows and a previous inclusion inTevinter Nights. What’s your take on the absence of Hawke in the upcoming game? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
