Where To Find Gaston In Dreamlight Valley
In order to find Gaston in the game, you will need to firstbuy the Dreamlight Valley expansion called A Rift in Time. This will add numerousnew areas and queststo the base game. One of the areas added will be theGlittering Dunes. You will need to progress in the game until youcome to this new area.
Travel to the west side of the map where there is a largelake of quicksand. Head north along this quicksand coast, and you willfind Gaston next to the tree. He won’t admit that he needs your help. Rather, he will insist that you need his help and that he will aid you if you cancomplete a fetch quest for him.

The Wanderer Of The Dunes Walkthrough
You can find bothDates and Agave throughout the Glittering Dunes. Once you have three Agave and four Dates, head onback to Gaston. Once you bring him everything he has requested, you canfollow himback to his encampment.
Search For Clues At Gaston’s Camp
After some dialog at the camp, you will need to look around for clues to discover the whereabouts of the vault key.
Once you have all three clues, head back to Gaston for some dialog and the next part of the quest, which will require unlocking access to the Wastes.
Where To Find The Desert Scarab Piece
Simply head on over toMerlin and give him 4,000 Mistto open the way for you, and then go meet Gaston in the Wastes by thelarge shipwreck. You will now need to gofishing in the quicksandnear the Shipwreck to get a hold of theLeFou item— give this item to Gaston.
Head on over to the planes anduse the Hourglassto locate the Desert Scarab. Its position is randomized in the game, but simply move towardswherever the white ring is pointingwhenever you use the Hourglass — be ready toquickly hit the bottom promptwhen it pops up.
Once you have the Desert Scarab,speak with Jafarat the Hologram Station, and then return to Gaston. Gaston will need to recenter himself and will disappear for a while —this can take several hours, so take this time to explore and enjoy other aspects of the game. Once his icon is back in the Wastes, go speak with him in order to begin the Wild Tangle’s Swarm quest.

How To Complete The Wild Tangle’s Swarm
After Gaston has returned, and you have spoken with him, you will need tospeak with Rapunzel,who will want you to take apicture of some swarming insects. Head toThe Groveand open up your map. To the right of where it says “The Grove” on your map, you will see3 stonesby the stream. The swarming insects arenorth of these stones. Simply stand in front of these swarming insects andtake a picture— that’s it!
Return and speak with Rapunzel to receive a list of additional items to collect. The items she wants will spawn throughoutThe Grove, The Grasslands, and The Courtyard. Once you have all the items, head on over to a crafting table andcraft2Carnivorous Floral Arrangements. Place them both where you took the picture of the swarming insects, and then return tospeak with Gaston.
Once you return to the Carnivorous Floral Arrangements, the insects will have all been eaten and allow you topick up another piece of the Scarab. Speak with Jafar again at the Hologram Station to get a blueprint.You will need 1,000 Mist and 3 Dream Shardsto repair the Jungle Scarab at the Timebending Table.Speak with Jafar once moreto wrap up this quest. Return to Gaston for the next step in unlocking him.
Diamond In The Rough Walkthrough
After speaking with Gaston, you will need tofollow the Scarabback to the Shipwreck in the Wastes. This will trigger a cutscene where the Cave of Wonders willmanifest from the sand. If you lose track of the scarab, do not worry —you may find it to theleft of the shipwreckwhere you were fishing next to Gaston.Enter through the mouth-shaped entranceof the Cave of Wonders.
How To Solve The Cave Of Wonders Puzzle
Navigating the Cave of Wonders isvery straightforward, and your only issue will be solving the puzzle near the end. Other than that, each roomonly has one section on either side. Once inside,speak with Jafarat the Hologram Station. After he is done speaking,look to your left and follow the trailto find a blue power coil — pick it up and place it in the slot next to where you found it. Head back to the Hologram Station and follow theright wall to find a switch —you may pull this switch to lower a mirror.
This mirror willdeflect a laser.Follow this laser to a now-open door. In the next room,follow the wall on the right,and it will lead you to another lever. Opposite the door you came in from, there will be a closed door with apath on the left side of it. Travel down this path andkeep to the left wallto pick up anAncient Mirror. Just keep following the left wall, and you will come to a switch you can pull. Keep following the trail, and you will pull one more switch along the way.
After both switches have been pulled, keep following the same wall, and you will begin tobacktrack as it loops to where you came from.At the start of the trail will now be the laser you activated.Use the Ancient Mirror on this spotto reflect the laser. Head on over to the roomon the right sideof the closed door, and you will find a room with a puzzle on the floor.This puzzle has several circular dialsyou will need to rotate. Stand at thetop of the stairs next to this puzzle from the entrance you came through.
Rotate each of the dials a specific number of times to charge up the power coil in the middle of the room:
Take the power coil andplace it in the slot next to the entrance of this puzzle room. Head to the closed door, which is now open, and head to the very back tocollect the Jewel of Time. You can now make your way back to the entrance to the Cave of Wonders to leave. Once you are back outside, head on over to Gaston togive him the Jewel of Timeto complete your journey in unlocking him.
