Since the very beginning of theBorutoseries, there has been a looming sense of uncertainty over the current state of Naruto Uzumaki. Kawaki, in the very first chapter of the series, ominously declared he would sendBorutoto that place where he had sent Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage. This had sent shivers down the spines of the fans.

For years, fans have been speculating what this threat actually meant and if Naruto might somehow be dead already. As the show progressed, subtle hints and clues were planted to accelerate tension and raise anticipation. Now thatBorutois coming to a climax, Kawaki’s past statement which made very little sense back then, now has become a cruel reminder: Is Naruto actually dead and never coming back in the series?
Kwaki Sealed Naruto’s Fate in TheBorutoSeries!
The opening ofBorutodepicts the devastated state of the Hidden Leaf village, showing an older Boruto in conflict with Kawaki. There Kawaki threatens Boruto to send him where he had sent Naruto before.
I’ll send you where I sent the Seventh Hokage, Boruto.
However, on closer inspection, one can understand that Kawaki’s words actually hinted at Naruto’s presence in another world, not his death! Also, because Naruto has a paternal bond with Kawaki, that indicates he (Kawaki) would never hurt Naruto. Because of Naruto’s own sorrowful early life as an orphan, he welcomed Kawaki into his family to demonstrate love and paternal relationships. Thus, Kawaki became more devoted to Naruto and generally offered his life as a defense for Naruto, making it even more unlikely that he would hurt Naruto.
Masashi Kishimoto’s Worst Blunder in Boruto is Tarnishing Naruto’s Legacy, Fans Have Had Enough
So it’s safe to say, that Kawaki’s intention is not villainous but to protect. He had kept the Uzumaki family, except for Boruto, in secret to prevent some unknown danger from them. Sadly, this danger could come from Boruto himself due to some suggestions from Momoshiki. The actions of Kawaki in early episodes reveal his commitment to Naruto.
Will Naruto Ever Return to The Series?
There is little to no doubt thatNaruto Uzumakiwill eventually be coming back, not just because of his popularity but also because of his iconic status. Fans will just have to wait a bit longer though, as Boruto’s narrative is about to enter its time-skip phase. The time-skip phase will introduce the storyline to show Boruto and his peers participating in an intense four-year training process, strengthening their abilities. However, Naruto will be away during this time-skip, and Kawaki’s past statement definitely proves that Naruto is still stuck within the Daikokuten world.
What’s Stopping Masashi Kishimoto from Making Kakashi Sarada’s New Master in Boruto?
Then, after some time, Naruto will eventually make his grand return, likely as a result of the conclusion of Boruto and Kawaki’s struggle. It might even come with a turning point in Naruto’s life, as his time in theDaikokuten worldcould have allowed him to undergo growth on an unprecedented scale. Free of the shackles of time, he might have spent millions of years perfecting his skill, opening up entirely new dimensions. This would definitely affect the story’s narrative in a long shot, as he would return stronger, wiser, and more powerful than ever.
BothNaruto&Borutoanime series are available to watch onCrunchyroll.
