Diablo Immortalhas been a divisive title ever since it wasrevealed at BlizzCon 2018. WhileDiablo 4was finally revealed today, many fans were expecting to hear about it in 2018 and were disappointed when Blizzard decided to end its BlizzCon Opening Ceremony last year by revealing this mobile spin-off that was created alongside NetEase. The backlash towards its reveal was quite heavy and even spawned some memes. Blizzard and NetEase have mostly kept their heads down in regards to this title in 2018; in fact,Diablo Immortalwas even absent from today’s Opening Ceremony that housed the reveals ofOverwatch 2,Diablo 4as well as newHearthstoneandWorld of Warcraftexpansions.

That being said, a trailer was released forDiablo Immortallater in the day. Check it out below:

In it, we see how the game has evolved over its last year of development and new classes, moves, costumes, and items are unveiled. Most notably, this trailer reveals the new zones of Wortham, Dark Wood, Tamoe Mountain and Ashwold Cemetary, the new crossbow-wielding Demon Hunter class and the fact that players have ultimate abilities that can be used to take out hordes of enemies. While there is a negative stigma aroundDiablo ImmortalandBlizzard in generalnowadays, I actually think this game looks pretty good for a mobile adaptation of the classic ARPG series. It wasdefinitely announced at the wrong timethough, so it makes sense that Blizzard would end up relegating discussion on the title to after their opening ceremony.

If you want to learn more about how the game plays, you should check out DualShockers’preview from last year. A newpost on Blizzard’s websitealso delves more into what makes the game stand out and where exactly it takes place inDiablo’stimeline. If you are more interested inDiablo 4,you can watch itsreveal and gameplay trailersor see aplethora of concept art and screenshotsthat were released for it.

Even though NetEase’s CEO said thatDiablo Immortalwas"pretty much ready"to release all the way back in March, today’s appearance at BlizzCon did not bring any release news with it. Blizzard is simply saying that “it takes significant time to meet the Blizzard quality level we’re aiming for, and we have a lot of ambitious goals forDiablo Immortal.” Still, its developers are promising post-launch support.
