Hanford followed up hisCapcom Vs.tweet from Saturday night, clarifying that he doesn’t know about nor was teasing any unannounced Capcom games.

“Let me be 100% clear, I have NO KNOWLEDGE of any new Capcom games or the potential of what any of their games may entail,“Hanford wrote. “This tweet was about me being a big fan & seeing an Instagram ad about Capcom characters. Again, please understand, I am in no way teasing or revealing info.”

This doesn’t mean that Capcom doesn’t have something in development, but it does mean that we’re a ways off from anything being taken as confirmation.

So a newCapcom Vs.game might be on the way.

Brian Hanford, the English voice of V inDevil May Cry 5, tweeted Saturday night out of the blue that he’s “absolutely pumped for the next#CapcomVSgame!!! New characters but could be VERY familiar…”

There isn’t any other info out there right now regarding the existence of a newCapcom Vs.project, so file this one under rumors for the time being.

Keep your eyes and ears open, though, as there will be numerous opportunities for Capcom to announce something in the coming months. The developer and publisherwill be back at E3in June,Marvel vs. Capcom 2will beon Evo’s main stageat the end of July to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary, and Sony and Microsoft are likely to hold media events of their own in the lead up to the next-gen PlayStation 5’s and Xbox Series X’s launches this Fall.

Support forStreet Fighter Valso appears to be winding down now thatSethand the game’sChampion Editionhave closed out its fourth season, clearing the runway for a new title from Capcom’s fighting game division.

Capcom’s last crossover,Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, released in Sept. 2017 and wasunderwhelming in many respects. The game received a brief wave of downloadable content, but the company,MvCseries fans, and the fighting game community at large were quick to move on from it.

However, a misfire onInfinitehasn’t necessarily lessened the demand for another crossover fighter. So long as the game is developed with proper care, many would more than likely welcome another attempt from Capcom, especially given the roll it’s been on the past two years with some of the best performing entries into theMonster Hunter,Resident Evil, andDevil May Cryfranchises.

Whatever Capcom has brewing, the only safe guess to be made at the moment is that V is involved in some way.

And in the event that Hanford slipped and spoke too soon, well… it wouldn’t be the first time theDevil May Crycast has let the cat out of the bag.
