Along with the major overhauls since the beginning of Edge of Fate, this year’s Solstice has changed things up with the new Gear Tier system and revamped gameplay loop.Here’s everything you need to know about Solstice 2025 Event inDestiny 2.
Solstice will last for two weeks, beginning on August 5th 2025 to August 19th 2025.
How Solstice Works
The main loot that you’ll be looking for areDistorted Solstice Engrams that can either be randomly dropped from enemies or are guaranteed rewards from certain Portal activities.
Bonfire Bash will not be the event-specific activity for Solstice.Instead, there will be Solstice modifiers in Portal activities that allow you to customize your experience as you farm for gear and materials.
You’ll be able to tell which activity is guaranteed to drop a Distorted Solstice Engram when you hover over the activity.
Like Arms Week andHeavy Metal,this year’s Solstice features an event page,which gives you daily and weekly challenges that not only reward you with XP and Bright Dustbut also Event Tokens that can be exchanged at the Reward Shop on the event page.
Solstice will last a little shorter than most other events, so verify that you pick up all the items you want during this limited time and spend all your tokens, as they will expire when Solstice ends.
Each Portal activity comes withtwo Solstice modifiers,which you can customize however you want.
Solstice Modifier
Hot Potato
Carriable Solar Flares occasionally drop from defeated combatants. Passing it between players increases the amount of damage it will do.
Dealing damage and final blows from Solar sources raises a heat meter. Once full, your weapons will cause Solar explosions.
Class Healing
Heal yourself when using your class ability.
Precision hits against scorched combatants cause ignitions.
Firesprite Fancy
Picking up a Firesprite creates a Solar area around you, scorching nearby combatants, collecting additional Firesprites increases the area affected.
Dreaming Brighter
Solstice weapons with the “Dream Work” Origin Trait deal increased damage.
Radiant Joy
While Radiant, final blows spawn Firesprites. Collecting Firesprites will Cure you.
Solar Slide
Sliding after sprinting for a short time creates a scorching Solar wave.
Solar Storms
Solar fireballs occasionally spawn when defeating combatants. Solar fireballs rain down death and destruction while advancing toward you.
Keep in mind that modifiers rotate daily for matchmade Portal activities. Completing activities with Solstice modifiers will also grant event XP that progresses your reward track, which gives you free gear like the new Ghost shell and Holofoil weapons with curated rolls.
PVP also features the Scorched game mode, which is a non-competitive game mode where everybody gets a scorch cannon while playing normalCrucible modeslike Clash, Control, and Rift.
Solstice Questline
To get started,head to the Tower and pick up the “Celebrating Solstice” quest from Eva Levante.
The questline will walk you through the basic steps of earning Solstice gear, Solstice Alloys, and Event Tokens.
Follow the questline, as it’ll also take you through the steps to using the Solstice Forge to craft your Solstice Armor and give it its coveted glow.
While I normally wouldn’t recommend skipping getting armor,acquiring each armor piece adds it to the loot pool,which might dilute it if your priority is grinding for weapons.
Once you complete the quest, you’ll also get a Solstice memento.
Solstice Armor
This year’s premiumSolstice armor ornamentfeatures a beach/pool-themed aesthetic, which is fitting for the unbelievably hot weather we’ve been getting.
As always, each ornament set costs 1500 Silver. You may spend your hard-earned money however you wish, but the Warlock set looks really cute, and the shark cloak for the Hunter is perfect for those who want to be a menace in the kiddie pool.
As for the free armor, you’ll be able to craft Lustrous armor via the Solstice Forge.Each armor piece requires 100 Solstice Alloy,which you’re able to earn by completing any activity with Solstice modifiers active.
This year’s Solstice features a highly sought-after armor set from Solstice 2019, which can be created as Tier 3-5 and roll with the game’s new stat mechanics per Edge of Fate.

Solstice Weapons
Because we’ll only be gettingthree new Solstice weapons, this guide also doubles as a list discussing the new weapons, and Bungie really cooked with them.
According to reports from Destiny content creators like Aztecross and Datto, farming Portal activities have been consistently dropping Tier 5 Solstice weapons if your power level is at 300-400.
Even if you’ve been touching grass and haven’t hit 400 yet, you’ll still be getting consistent Tier 3s and 4s.
All three weapons come with the Dream Work origin trait, which reads, “once per reload, assists or assisted final blows partially refill the weapon from reserves and increase reload speed for a short duration.”
Because Tier 3 or above versions of these weapons can roll with multiple perks in the same column, the most common or recommended perks will bebolded.

How To Farm Solstice 2025 Gear
Farming Solstice is simple: find any activity that you want to play that has a guaranteed Distorted Solstice Engram drop, which guarantees at least one Solstice weapon or armor piece.
The amount of Solstice Alloy that drops from activities is proportional to the difficulty and the average amount of time it takes to complete that activity. Here are the following drop numbers:
If you’re just looking to grind loot and levels, thenSolo Ops is the way to go,as they’re designed to take around 5–10 minutes and provide a generous amount of Solstice Alloy.
Grinding Solo Ops is better than Pinnacle Ops, which usually takes about half an hour on average, and would most likely require a full fireteam to do it smoothly.
Load up a Solo Ops and customize your modifiers to ensure that you have at least a B+ rank, if not an A rank.This ensures that you get the best loot possible out of every run, while at the same time making sure you don’t give yourself too hard of a time while farming.
The easiest way to increase your rank without making it too difficult is to activate the Restricted Loadout modifier, which significantly increases your predicted rank but keeps the mission relatively doable, especially on Master difficulty or above.
Is Solstice Worth Grinding?
Solstice is worth grinding for. While the Portal activities can be mindlessly repetitive at times, the armor and weapons in this event are too good to pass up.
If you have a high enough power level, you’re most likely going to get a lot of Tier 4-5 gear with very little effort, and you’ll also get the Glowing Lustrous armor quite easily too.
As per theofficial Destiny 2 X account,every Solstice gear that drops has a +1 Gear Tier than what you would usually get. This lasts while Solstice is happening, so get grinding!
