Origin Traits are a type of weapon perks that give significantly fewer bonuses than normal weapon perks. Each season we also get different seasonal artifact mods to boost specific Origin Traits. While some Origin Traits provide no benefit, some Origin Traits can significantly improve how a weapon performs.

10Bitterspite

Bitterspite is an origin trait that is exclusive to the Duality dungeon weapons. These include Unforgiven, New Purpose, Stormchaser, and Lingering Dread. Bitterspite states that “While this weapon is equipped, taking damage accelerates its next reload.”

Bitterspite stacks up to 5 times, with each stack improving the reload speed and the reload duration multiplier. It improves the reload by 10 all the way to 50 and improves the reload duration multiplier from 0.97 to 0.9. This Origin Trait activates a lot when you are in a fight, basically allowing every reload to be faster than base reload speed.

9Omolon Fluid Dynamics

Omolon Fluid Dynamics is an Origin Trait focused onThe Crucibleand is only available on the guns belonging to the Omolon weapon foundry. Omolon Fluid Dynamics states, “The weapon has increased reload speed and stability for the top half of the magazine.”

Omolon Fluid Dynamics is the inverse of the perk Under Pressure and linearly provides a benefit to reload and stability that increases as the magazine approaches 100 percent capacity. Omolon Fluid Dynamics provides up to 20 extra stability and 30 reload speeds.

8Veist Stinger

Veist Stinger is the Origin Trait exclusive to weapons belonging to the Veist weapon foundry. Veist Stinger used to be the best Origin Trait in the game but was nerfed a few seasons ago. Notable weapons which feature this Origin Trait are Funnelweb and Taipan-FR4.

This trait works as “Damaging an enemy with this weapon has a chance to reload the magazine and increase movement speed while aiming down sights. Bows receive faster draw speed, and swords receive faster charge rate while this perk is active.” Veist Stinger used to reload a weapon when it was first introduced fully but now only reloads 25 percent of the magazine.

Classy Contender provides 5 percent of the class ability energy if you get a kill with the weapon. This 5 percent might not seem much, but in the middle of a fight, such passive ability regeneration is always nice to have, making it one of the better Origin Traits in the game.

6Suros Synergy

Suros Synergy is the Origin Trait exclusive to the weapons belonging to the Suros weapon foundry. Suros Synergy is the best Origin Trait for The Crucible and fortunately, Suros has some of the best PvP weapons, some notable weapons being Cantata-57 and Exalted Truth.

Suros Synergy states, “Reloading grants this weapon bonus handling and reduces incoming flinch for a short time.” So, upon finishing a reload, for the next 6 seconds, the weapon will receive 40 extra handling and 20 percent flinch resistance.

Classy Contender

Ambush is the Origin Trait for the seasonal weapon set of Season of the Seraph weapons and works “Improves range, handling, and damage against combatants during the opening moments of an engagement.”

This extra damage is not applicable in The Crucible, but it still provides 20 extra range and 20 handling, making it a slightly worse version of the weapon perk Opening Shot. In PvE, it also provides the weapon with an extra 11 percent damage during the first 2 seconds of an engagement.

4Runneth Over

Runneth Over is the Origin Trait exclusive for the King’s Fall raid weapons. Runneth Over works as “Reloading near allies overflows the magazine.” Runneth Over can stack up to 5 times depending on the number of allies you have nearby.

Each stack of Runneth Over overflows the magazine from reserves by 10 percent and hence maxes out at 50 percent. Runneth Over is useful for special ammo and heavy ammo weapons, these being Defiance of Yasmin, Midha’s Reckoning, and Quillum’s Terminus.

3Bray Inheritance

Bray Inheritance is the Deep Stone Crypt weapons exclusive Origin Trait that was introduced when the Deep Stone Crypt weapons got a perk refresh in Season of the Seraph. Bray Inheritance works as “Dealing damage generates a small amount of ability energy.”

Bray Inheritance works on every weapon hit and grants energy for all grenades, melee, and class abilities. The ability gain ranges from 0.3 to 0.9 percent depending on the weapon. Bray Inheritance is a very useful perk when combined with other ability regeneration or damage perks, as it is giving you free ability energy as long as you are in a fight.

2Field-Tested

Field-Tested drops on the world drop weapons that do not belong to a specific weapon foundry. Field-Tested gives amazing benefits that stay as long as the player is alive. Field-Tested states that “Defeating targets or dealing damage with this weapon gradually increases range, stability, handling and reload speed. Sword gains increased charge rate and resistance.”

Field-Tested stacks up to 5 times and provides an extra range that ranges from 3 to 20, reload speed that ranges from 5 to 55, plus a noticeable increase in handling and stability. This perk requires a lot of damage and kills to reach the maximum stack, but once you have reached the maximum stack, they stay as long as you are alive.

1Souldrinker

Souldrinker is the Origin Trait exclusive to theVow of the Discipleweapons, which include Submission, Deliverance, Insidious, Cataclysmic, Forbearance, and Lubrae’s Ruin. Souldrinker states, “Gain health based on the number of hits before reloading.”

Souldrinker restores health based on the number of hits before reloading, and this health gain varies between different weapon types. It ranges between 20hp to 80hp for a full magazine. Souldrinker is an excellent survivability Origin Trait as the reload can save a player who is critical or is almost dead.
