Ryan Reynolds Hinted There’s an R-RatedDetective Pikachu!
While hyping up the 2019Detective Pikachumovie,Ryan Reynoldsspilled the beans on all the behind-the-scenes magic that brought everybody’s childhood favorite to life. But that’s not all, in anAP Newsrevelation, the actor also dropped a bombshell that has everyone on the edge of their seats!
Turns out, there’s a foul-mouthed, R-rated version of Pikachu out there, and people are practically itching to get a peek. Reynolds spilled the tea, explaining how he had the freedom to let loose, and if one gathered all his outtakes, one could practically create a whole R-rated Pikachu movie extravaganza. He explained,

“Dear god, yes. There’s probably an entirely different film that they could cut together that wouldn’t make the PG cut at all. When you’re feeling that kind of freedom, you don’t really govern yourself by ratings systems or that sort of thing.”
In classic Ryan Reynolds style, he sprinkled his own brand of magic on the character. Going off-script, he did things he knew wouldn’t make it to the final cut, all for the sake of fun. Yet, it’s this playful energy that brought everybody’s favorite electric creature to life on the big screen. And fans are now eager to see what could have been!

What Was Inside the R-RatedDetective Pikachu?
Ryan Reynolds also talked about this in an in-depth interview withCinema Blend. Although people might never get the joy of a Pikachu with a foul mouth, the Detective Pikachu movie fans got still packed a punch of humor, even without the grown-up language. Reynolds thus dished out the details of what really happened behind the scenes. He explained,
“I think there’s one that they could cut. Yeah, not hard R, but there’s some stuff in there. Because you just sort of want to be free. Sometimes you have to get it out. You have to say the worst thing that’s on your mind just so it goes away and then you may focus on the stuff that can actually be in the movie. So yeah, there’s a version out there that will never see the light of day.”

He then further delved into the nooks and crannies of what that freedom resulted in,
“There was some very sweary hyphenates. I remember that but otherwise no. They don’t even animate that, they’re just like ‘ok that goes right in that little garbage can shaped icon on the computer and that’s it.’

While it’s out there in the universe somewhere, it would be an absolute blast to witness those tiny snippets where Ryan Reynolds just said,“Chuck it! I’m taking the wheel!”Sadly, the chances of seeing the whole shebang are as elusive as a Pikachu in tall grass. Although the agony of missing out on the complete goofiness is real, one can only hope.
