Dead Space’s launch trailer has revealed the horrifying journey of Isaac Clarke on board the massive USG Ishimura. The two-minute-long trailer also showcases the most iconic scenes from the cult classic original, including the tunnel boss fight and the protagonist’s most difficult missions in the massive planet-cracker ship.

The trailer, titled “Humanity Ends Here,” shows that EA Motive has not forgotten the original’s ability to tell stories through the environment as well. From ship dwellers who are plagued by the festering plague to the dangerous zero gravity areas, the launch trailer shows that the remake will stay faithful to the original.
In addition to the launch trailer, Electronic Arts has also shared an official blog post for the upcoming remake. The blog post offers details on how EA Motive reimagines the “already great story” of Dead Space. According to the game’s senior game writer Jo Berry, the story of Dead Space is also an eternal one, as it essentially gives the player to chance to “descend into hell to save their beloved.” Berry refers to Arthur’s perilous journey into the dark corners of the huge ship not only as an engineer but also as a person who is adamant to save his partner, Nicole.
The blog post further elaborates on the developers' approach to the game’s story. Catherine Stewart, who serves as a Lead Level Designer at EA Motive, states that they were aware that the project might not require new approaches on certain occasions “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. For the most part, it was all about leaving alone the beats that made the game so great,” says Stewart.
The blog post claims that the team at EA Motive has maintained surgical precision when rebuilding the story. According to the lead level designer, finding the middle ground was difficult, but she thinks that they “struck a really good balance.”
On the other hand, the remake also introduces a series of adjustments and additions to the game’s lore. Roman Campos-Oriola, who helms the creative directing process, says that the universe of Dead Space has welcomed a wide array of new stories. To complement the game’s enlarged universe, Roman says that they “added a bit more lore, or make some adjustments to the lore, to have better continuity with the broader universe.”
We also know that the current game development technologies allowed Dead Space to offer amore immersive experience, further enhancing its horrifying atmosphere.
Dead Space Remake will make its debut on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 27th, 2023.
