Know Your Playstyle
There are six characters that you get to choose from in the game, and each one comes with its own benefits and shortcomings. This means that some of them will be more beneficial towards certain playstyles, and you will want to do your research beforehand to figure out which one sounds like the one you will want to play.

You Don’t Have To Go Alone
While it may seem like the obvious choice to play solo and at your own pace, you can’t forget that one of the draws of Dead Island 2 is the co-op.You and up to two friends can join togetherto explore LA and take on the undead. With there being six different characters to choose from as well, you can experiment with different combinations to find the most fun ones.
It is important to note that you can only join another person’s game if they are at the same point as you, or earlier and that there is no cross-play. So if you and your friends want to play together, it has to be on the same platform.
Kicking Frequently
One of the game’s main mechanics is a kick that will send zombies reeling backwards, away from you. This is a handy tool when you are getting overwhelmed by a horde and just need to clear some space for yourself. It’s also a great way to send an enemy into a trap to deal out some good damage.
Pick Up Everything
There is a lot of scrap and everything to pick upwhen exploring the game, and it all has a use. Some of it can be a medkit that you can use immediately, while the rest can be stuff that you need to craft a certain item.
Plus, the weapon durability is not very high, especially at first, so you are going to want to have as much scrap on hand as possible to repair your weapons at a workbench.
Always Carry A Full Weapon Wheel
With the weapon durability being pretty low, you are going to easily have a weapon break on you in the middle of a fight.
And instead of having to finish the fight with your fists or even running away, it’s better to just pull out another weapon from your inventory and keep wailing. Even if you find a weak weapon, pick it up and carry it just in case.
Dodging Is Your Friend
It may seem enticing, at first, to go into any combat scenario swinging when you start the game, but consider not do this. The game gives you a dodge ability for a reason.

Sure, you may be able to kill an enemy one-on-one pretty easily by just swinging, but when there are groups, you may easily get overwhelmed and the zombies pack a decent bite. So learn how to dodge effectively and minimize the damage you take.
Use The Environment
You don’t just have to use what’s in your hands to survive in Dead Island 2, and the game is packed full of environmental hazards that you’re able to use to your advantage. See a pack of zombies standing in a puddle?
Throw a car battery in and watch them get electrocuted. These kinds of traps can help you take out swarms of enemies quickly while also conserving ammo and weapon durability.
Do The Side Missions
While it’s easy to just stick with the main story of the game and go through those missions, take the time to explore the side activities. These provide some of the best content in the game with new characters to interact with, and new places to discover, and will help level up your character so that you won’t get stuck on any mission in the future.

Stock Up On Fuses
One of the most surprisingly-valuable resources that you will find in the game are Fuses. You can find these scattered around, and also buy them from Carlos, the vendor at Emma’s house. You can use these to open locked doors around the world, which will reveal some uncommon or rare weapons, along with some crafting resources.
Always try to keep some on hand, and stock up and more whenever you are near Carlos.
Craft Medkits
While you can find these life-saving things out in the world, as well as other health items, it is alwaysbest to keep your stock of Medkits topped offand you can do that by crafting them. You can unlock their recipe through Carlos for no charge at all, and then their simple recipe is easy to find as well:
