The Hellion is an oddity inDarkest Dungeon 2. She wants to be in the front rank where the tanks usually live and deal a ton of damage to enemies who are unlucky enough to face-off against her. While a well-built Helion should be able to do some tanking, their main focus will be shredding through enemies with either Bleed stacks or just big, juicy damage numbers. However, with the amount of confusing skills and the effects of the Hellion’s unique debuff, Winded, building a good Hellion can be a rather difficult task.

Hellion Paths
The Hellion has four paths -the Wanderer, Ravager, Berserker, Carcass.
There are few times you should build the Wanderer since it is outclassed by the Ravager in almost every way.
The Ravager
The Ravager is by far the best Path for the Hellion. If you’re thinking of building the Hellion, there’s a good chance you want to use the Ravager.
What makes her so good is her +20% max HP, which brings her health to 42 - the same amount of HP as a Man-At-Arms.Her +25% damage in Rank 1 is also extremely powerful because she’ll be doing all of her actions from Rank 1, which means you’ll be enjoying that large damage boost in most of your turns.
Best Skills For The Ravager
Start the Ravager in Rank 1 and at the beginning of the fight, use Howling End.This should deal a boat load of damage to one target and move the Ravager back a Rank. Once you’ve done that, use Toe to Toe so the Hellion can move back into Rank 1 and remove her Winded token. In the following turn, use Wicked Hack to finish off enemies, or if you’re in a dangerous position, use Adrenaline Rush. After that,Howling End should now be off cooldown,so you can use it again.
An alternative to Adrenaline Rush is Raucous Revelry.Revelry should be used in small fights when you need the stress heal and don’t mind dealing with the additional Winded token. Once you’re in a boss fight however, swap back to Adrenaline Rush.
Best Trinkets For The Ravager
Any trinket that increases damage or crit chance is going to work well for the Ravager. Trinkets you should be on the look out for are the following:

The Berserker
This path focuses on applying Bleed stacks to enemies at the cost of having 28 base HP.Just like with the Wounding Words trinket, you can use food items at the Inn to help mitigate this weakness. Her increased crit chance also makes her surprisingly self-sufficient since critical hits have a chance at removing stress too.
Unfortunately, besides the Wanderer, the Berserker is the next weakest of her the paths. Her low HP can put her in danger without food, and her Bleed builds need the right trinkets to keep up with the Ravager’s damage. However, the Berserker still has a home in Bleed-heavy teams as long as you take a short trip to the Sprawl.
Best Skills For The Berserker
The Berserker wants to sit in rank 2 and use the If It Bleeds skill as often as possible. You can start the Berserker in Rank 2 to achieve that, or if you have a hero that wants to move from Rank 2 to Rank 1, then you can start combat by using Bleed Out, then use another Hero to move the Hellion into Rank 2. In the following Hellion turn, use Bloodlust to remove the Winded token and give her a buff to bleeding targets. Once she’s in Rank 2, she can use If It Bleeds to her heart’s content.
Raucous Revelry is in this build to help with stress levels, while Breakthrough should be used to reposition the Berserker when you need to.If you have another Hero that can handle movement then you can replace Breakthrough with Adrenaline Rush if you need more healing.
Best Trinkets For The Berserker
The Carcass
The Carcass focuses on just tanking damage and supporting her team. Her biggest priorities are getting stacks of Taunt, getting more block by accruing Winded stacks, and then increasing her own survivability. If she wants to deal damage, then Bleed Out is her best option since the Winded tokens will prevent her from doing damage.
Best Skills For The Carcass
The Carcass wants to focus the enemy’s attacks onto her as soon as possible and gather as many Winded tokens as she can.To do this, put her in Rank 1 and use Barbaric YAWP! first to weaken the enemy team and apply 2x Taunt to yourself. If you need more Taunt in later turns, use Toe to Toe, but be aware that it will remove Winded stacks.
Raucous Revelry gives you Winded, heals the Hellion, and removes stress and Dread.Overall, an amazing skill for small battles or enemies that just want to use Dread and stress your team. It’s especially useful on the Carcass because gaining Winded will make her tankier in her subsequent turn.
Bleed Out is used for times when you want to get some damage in.In small fights, this won’t be a common option, but against Bosses or enemies with multiple turns, this is a useful way to end the fight sooner.
The final slot is flexible.Since the Hellion’s skills are dependent on what Rank she’s in,Breakthrough will give you a stack of Winded and put her back in the front lines if she’s moved. Adrenaline Rush gives a burst of healing when Raucous Revelry isn’t cutting it anymore.WIcked Hack can also work into this slot if you know you’re going up against enemies that will stack Block tokens.

Best Rank For The Hellion
The best rank for the Hellion is Rank 1.The Hellion will have access to all of her skills and all of her skills that can reach Rank 4 and Rank 1. Ideally, the Hellion uses her skills to stay in Rank 1 so she can keep using Howling End. While Rank 2 is eligible for Howling End, it means you need to set up a turn afterward
First Skill To Upgrade For The Hellion
This choice will change based on what path you’re running.
If you are running the Ravager, you want to upgrade Toe to Toe first.Otherwise, you’llwant to upgrade Raucous Revelry for its stress heal.Afterward, upgrade Howling End so you may get through combat as fast as possible.
Adrenaline Rush is a good alternative for some builds because it helps the Hellion’s survivability and removes any DoTs. Just ensure you watch out for its two use limit.
Best Team Composition For The Hellion
The Hellion does best with teammates who canapply combo, tank alongside her, or heal her.Fellow heroes who canapply DoTs are appreciated if you’re running a Berserker. The Ravager and Carcass can fit into almost any team composition.
