The central characters inDandadanhave their distinct traits and personalities, which makes them interesting to follow. All of them are extremely well-written, making it easier for fans to resonate with them. The characters share great chemistry among themselves, but their first interactions were far from great or even good, especially the ones with Okarun.
Despite being a sweet and respectful guy, Okarun was mistreated by the other characters without any reason. This makes Jiji special, as he has always been fair and nice to Okarun, something that the latter doesn’t get to experience much.
The test that everyone failed except Jiji inDandadan
Dandadananime explores all the characters quite well, and at this point, we know the past of all of them. Even though Jiji is still a mystery in many ways, we have information about his childhood. Okarun was introduced as a quiet and shy guy with interesting hobbies. Yet, the lack of social interactions in his life made his awkwardness stand out even more.
Despite his lack of experience with social situations, Okarun has kept to himself and never tried to make others uncomfortable. As great as Okarun has been, his first interactions with the other members of the central cast were far from ideal.The first time Momo and Okarun had a proper conversation, Momo insulted him by calling him a nerd and annoying.

She lashed out on him and even said that his pushy behavior is the reason why he doesn’t have any friends. In her defense, she went through a “breakup”, immediately regretted her words, and treasures Okarun a lot now. However, at that time she had just seen how Okarun was an easy target for others, which makes her actions somewhat hypocritical.
As awful as Momo was, she still doesn’t compare to Aira. Aira made a fool of Okarun by acting all nice with him but later mocked how he was smitten with her. Both of them were horrible to Okarun, who did nothing to deserve it. What he deserved was the excitement and warmth Jiji offered him from the get-go.
Jiji’s heartwarming dynamics with Okarun
Jiji’s first introduction with Okarun was at Momo’s house. They briefly met and later when he saw Okarun at school with Momo, he took notice of Okarun and asked if he was a friend. Their first proper interaction happened again at Momo’s place.
Jiji praised Okarun and called him cool for his Turbo Granny transformation. A Reddit post highlighted the difference between how others treated Okarun and how Jiji did.
Jiji was a bully in his childhood and changed his ways as he grew up, which explains why he wasn’t mean to Okarun. However, he praised the “uncool” Okarun and even shared excitement with him. He made it easier for Okarun to open up to him. Jiji passed a test Momo and Aira failed horribly, and such instances prove how Jiji is a ray of sunshinedespite all that he has experienced.
