Standing Stone Games has announced thatDungeons & DragonsOnline will receive a mini-expansion this spring, where players will help Morgrave University neutralize the threat posed by Vecna. The blockbuster RPG will also celebrate its 17th anniversary with a catalog of new playable content, including three Archetypes, Night Revels, and an Adventure Pack, plus a free dungeon for all players.

Dungeons & Dragons Online’s developer released a roadmap that previews all the new content coming to the popular online RPG this year, including a mini-expansion that adds to the story of Vecna. The game’s story took players to the Isle of Dread last year, where they squared off against the infamous D&D villain Vecna. The Isle of Dread is a mysterious region in which the Cult of Vecna had been sighted. Players stepped onto the island’s shores to uncover what Vecna was planning. They explored mysterious ruins, encountered deadly foes, and collected new items to stand against the wrath of Vecna.

Now, the long-running story will reach its peak with a new expansion, where players will team up with Morgrave University to try and neutralize the threat posed by Vecna. There is currently no word on when the upcoming expansion will release, but Standing Stone Games will share more information and content about it as spring gets closer. The development team will also kick off a new Hardcore Season this summer with another rules change-up.

The roadmap also features the revamped version of the forum and Droaam content, which will be coming in the second and third quarters. There is also another Hardcore redux season that will bring new challenges and rewards. Standing Stone Games has also covered the big beats of 2022in the blog post, including lag and performance issues that players have been experiencing for quite some time. The company will continue its work to reduce lag and improve performance to make the game’s systems more efficient, meaning players can expect to see steady improvements over time.

Although the roadmap gives players a good sense of what Dungeons & Dragons Online has in store for the upcoming months, it includes nothing more than general information, and players should keep in mind that dates and content included in the roadmap are subject to change.
