Minecrafthas been a creative outlet for players for many years. Creating a place of freedom for those who want to let their imagination run wild. Officially releasing in November 2011,Minecrafthas since been ported to various platforms including the Nintendo Switch, and is widely considered the best-selling video game of all time due to selling 180 million copies across all platforms and 112 million monthly active users as of 2019. Over the years we’ve seen some incredible works of art fromMinecraftplayers and today is no different. Reddit userDeltagonshowcases their amazing looking build of aCyberpunkslum all crafted inside the world ofMinecraft.
Deltagon’s dystopian futuristic setting definitely wouldn’t go amiss in the sci-fi world of Ridley Scott’sBlade Runner,Ghost in the Shell,or the upcoming title by CD Projekt,Cyberpunk 2077. Intertwined with vast tall and stark buildings, flying vehicles and connected towers, we see the trademark neon signs that make this scene really stand out in the mostCyberpunkway. The only clue that this was actually created inMinecraftis the characteristic blocky clouds in the skies above the decrepit city.

In the comments under the image on Reddit, Deltagon states that it took them 60 hours over a 2 week period. When asked by a commenter why they build inMinecraftinstead of building the model in Blender, Deltagon replied “I do quite a bit of building in Minecraft so I have an easier time bringing my ideas into reality. Whereas I only use Blender for lighting and the camera work, so I can’t even imagine building this (entire scene) in Blender.” Deltagon also stated that they use a program called Mineways to convert the builds into OBJ files ( a standard 3D image format that can be exported and opened by various 3D image editing programs) which then they import to blender and render. Important information for those who would like to give it a go and recreate this scene, or anything else, for themselves.
You can check outDeltagon’s process in building thisCyberpunksceneright herewhere they layout in pictures and gifs how they went about each step. Of course, you can see many more images of their incredible work on theirportfolio pagetoo that ranges from Steampunk inspired builds, a beautiful red Japanese maple tree, and a mass of incredible oriental sculptures.
