We’ve recently learned thatBlack Ops 6will require an internet connection at all times. Activision’s decision for the internet requirement has also extended to the game’s texture streaming feature. While many players have been clowning on the developers for this absurd requirement, they’ve been using the same feature unwittingly inModern Warfare 3 (MW3).

Black Ops 6 Texture Streaming Feature Causes Frustration Among Call of Duty Platers

Xbox kicked off its latest showcase withBlack Ops 6, confirming that the game will finally debut on Series S/X this October. Since then, we’ve seen multiple details surfacing, with the official website confirmingthat an internet connection will be required to play the title.

To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes. This means you’ll need a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign. If you’re on a console, Campaign can be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.

According to Activision, the campaign will require an internet connection due to the game’s texture streaming feature. It’s a technique used by Activision to manage and load texture data during gameplay, which will allow the game to have the“highest-quality visuals.” It’s clear that Activision will elevate the graphical experience for futureCall of Dutygames with such new features, but this hasn’t gone down well among the players.

After Activision’s announcement thatBlack Ops 6will require an internet connection, there was a massive community outage. Players were frustrated by the fact that what is something that can be played offline will always require an internet connection. Of course, there’s no justification forBlack Ops 6‘s campaign requiring an internet connection. Any single-player should be completely playable offline.

However, it’s time for players to look at the benefits of the texture streaming feature inBlack Ops 6. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Activision implement the feature. The studio introduced texture streaming inModern Warfare 3, and though it was an on-demand option, it proved to deliver high-quality visuals and improved the game’s visual fidelity and performance.

Activision Finally ConfirmsBlack Ops 6File Size After Major Controversies

There’s no doubt thatBlack Ops 6is going to completely revolutionize the franchise’s high-octane shooter gameplay formula. It’s also set to bring a campaign that’s been enhanced by visual improving features. However, when some fans visited the title’s pre-order page, they wereshocked to see the game’s storagerequirements, which would reserve over 300 GB of disk memory to play the title.

Thankfully, Activision stepped in and clarified to players that this was a mistake. It was confirmed that 300 GB was not exclusively forBlack Ops 6, and the estimated space also took into account the complete installation of MW2, MW3, and Warzone. This estimate also included the full content packs for each title along with the game’s regional language options, which are often not downloaded as a whole by players.

However, the post hasn’t given us the exact storage space required forBlack Ops 6. Apparently, players will be able to play the game without downloading older titles and will be provided with a more accurate memory estimate right before the launch.
