Amid therecent claimsmade by former Claptrap voice actor David Eddings and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford about Eddings' departure fromBorderlands 3, Eddings has now accused Pitchford of physically assaulting him.

Eddings' recent Twitter thread on the matter was to “correct the record” that Pitchford had stated previously about the offer that was given to the Claptrap voice actor. “I had a lot of mixed feelings when asked to reprise the role of Claptrap late last year and eventually realized I was willing to put differences aside and do something cool forBorderlandsfans with my friends at Gearbox,” confesses Eddings about his potential return as Claptrap. “I ultimately offered to do it for ‘free’ in exchange for past royalties owed plus an apology for something I’ve never spoken about publicly until now: Randy physically assaulted me in the lobby of the Marriot Marquis at GDC 2017.”

The thread continues with Eddings commenting that Pitchford has been “on tilt” the last few years" and that he blocked him a couple of years ago for “stalking” him on social media. He also chimes in on the $12 million of revenue that was supposedly for the employee royalty pool but was instead siphoned away.

This $12 million, which has been referenced a few timesin Eddings' threads about the dispute, is in reference to alawsuit filed by Wade Callendar, a former lawyer for Gearbox from 2010 to 2018. Callendar claimed Pitchford received a secret $12 million bonus rather than distributing it to Gearbox employees and the development ofBorderlands 3.

“2K says they won’t give a statement regarding an ongoing lawsuit but if the allegation is false, then it sure seems a lot easier to just deny it since that’s the only reason they’re mentioned,” states Eddings. “The whole thing stinks.”

As Eddings is not voicing Claptrap, it was recently revealed that Jim Foronda would be providing his talents for the rambunctious robot. He has provided voice work for previousBorderlandsgames, as well as a whole lot of anime includingDragon Ball SuperandFullmetal Alchemist.
