Chinese publishing studio Tencent Interactive Entertainment released a trailer for a new mobile game they are currently developing. What makes this particular title so noteworthy is how inspired it seems to be by Western games in the same genre such asDays Gone,Metal Gear Survive,Left for Dead, andState of Decay.According to Twitter userZhugeEX, the Tencent game is an open world survival title with zombies. There’s also online co-op gameplay, possibly Tower Defense going by the actual trailer:
Not much else is known about the title, except that goes by codename 代å·ï¼çæº, which roughly translate toCode: Live. The trailer is just below, and honestly for a mobile game it looks pretty great. I especially appreciate the diversity in environments, which should make for some interesting gameplay mechanics.

YoutuberKOO KOput together a video comparing this trailer to the first 10-15 seconds of theDays Gone’s trailer, as well as additional footage from other titles such asState of Decay.
As one can see, there’s a lot the Tencent title borrows from. But that’s not a bad thing at all, considering how oversaturated the zombie genre is already. And borrowing the best elements from other games to make a polished finish product is absolutely a positive in my book.

China has become a big player in the video game market as of late. Ubisoft and Tencentpartnered upto bring the former’s games to PC and mobile in China. And Ubisoft had blockeda takeover attemptby Vivendi last year; interestingly enough Tencent acquired a five percent stake in Ubisoft through Vivendi. However, China’s crackdowns on online games caused Tencentto loseits biggest video game company status last year.
