One of the additions inChained Echoes: Ashes of Elrantis afishing minigamevery reminiscent of the one found inBreath of Fire2. OrThe Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, if you want to be chronologically accurate.
It’s a simple minigame, but it helped me take a breather between exploration and the DLC’s main story.Plus, it was possible to get some loot that unlocked new Deals when sold, and also access to two shopkeepers in the Fishing Guild.
Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant Review
Despite a few additions and more lore details, Ashes of Elrant plays largely the same.
Most Fishing Spots can be found along the critical path, but some are pretty hidden. On top of that,there’s a secret fishthat, when caught, gives the loot necessary to grab the strongest weapon for Siena and Egyl.
So, if you want to become a Master Angler in Elrant, come along as I show youwhere to find every fishing spot location inChained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant.
Note: I’ll separate the Fishing Spots by area, but some can only be accessed after unlocking the Sky Armor or later in the game.
Every Fishing Skill
Tounlock fishing, you need to invest 20 Party Points in your Talents. After that, it’s just a matter of finding a spot and starting the minigame. A tutorial will teach you how to identify the best bait for each fish and how to reel it in when hooked.
There are four distinct skills you can unlock as your Fishing level increases. Some help improve your fishing capabilities, and others unlock vendors in the Fishing Guild.

Auras unlocked
Sometimes, fish will have an aura around them. When you catch this fish, the aura will be activated. There are four auras in total, and only one can be active at any given moment.
Unlocks the Second Fishing Guild Vendor
You can buy smithing items from an NPC in the Fishing Guild.
Fisherman’s Intuition
For every bonus point triggered, you will get 10 additional points. Makes it easier to level up.
Unlocks the Last Fishing Guild Vendor
New items, the most valuable ones, start being sold by an NPC in the Fishing Guild.
If, by chance, one of the fish you want doesn’t spawn in a specific fishing spot,you may press the Rest button to refresh them. Some fish may require you to do this ten or twenty times, but trust me, they will eventually show up.

The first Fishing Spot is found right in Mushroom Forest. When you reach the open field north of the second warp point, you’ll need to destroy the dam inside a cave to open the path.
After doing that, to the east, there will be two wooden bridges.Take the southernmost one and keep going to find a hill with a scientist,climb it, and start hopping from platform to platform.
You’ll reach an elevation with two separate paths. Pick the left one, and you’ll eventually find your first fishing spot.

As soon as you regain control of your Sky Armors, you can fast travel back to Mushroom Forest to explore other regions, like, for example, the southeasternmost one on the map.
Once there, all you have to do is land on the indicated spot and get your rod ready.

After Leonar officially joins the party, your next destination is the Lost Gardens. The first area of the Gardens is just a staircase that leads you to a door.
Enter the door, and you’ll end up in the area’s second section. Right ahead,there’s a lake in the middle of Greek-like pillars, and in it, a fishing spot.

From fishing spot #3, go west to the Lost Garden’s next zone. There will be another lake in the northern part. Circle around and you’ll soon find it. It has three new fish compared to the previous one.

In the second region of the Deadlands, you’ll find a fishing spot in the middle of the map. It can’t be accessed via the mushroom-made bridge. So you must go around the east side.

Plankton Trumpet
Go all the way north into the second region of the Deadlands and exit through the west side.You’ll arrive at a secluded area in the third regionwith a fishing spot waiting for your rod.

As soon as you get into the Wastelands, you’ll face a gigantic enemy with your Sky Armors. A few steps after it, there’s a fishing spot that you can’t, unfortunately, fish at while aboard your Sky Armors.

Keep proceeding in the Wastelands as intended. You’ll pass through an area where moving sands will drop you down, and you’ll need to hop on your Sky Armor to get across.
After doing so (use the map as a reference), you’ll reach the northeast region of the Wastelands. A bit to the west you’ll find a fishing spot just waiting for your hook.
Note: The Striped Shark was quite rare for me. I had to refresh the fishing spot about 20 times for one to appear.

This location doesn’t have a name in-game, but I’ll call it Sky Isles because that’s the name of the other islands in the overworld. And, as I’ve hinted, yeah, you’re able to find this one by flying in the overworld.
First, you need to unlock the talent Call Airship for measly 100 Party Points. Then, once you board the airship, fly around the northeast of the overworld until you find this small piece of land.
After landing, you’ll find a fishing spot slightly south.

The last fishing spot is also located on a Sky Isle in the overworld. you’re able to find this teeny tiny island to the southwest when flying the airship.
Once you enter, board your Sky Armors and go north immediately. You’ll find four black cat enemies and slightly south of them, the last fishing spot.
Warning: The game updated while I was writing the guide and, for some reason, reset my Fish Type progress. That’s why the image says 6/46, although my level is 10, and I’ve completed all the Fishing Spots.
How To Catch the Blob Fish
If you go to the Fishing Guild, one of the NPCs will saya new fish will appear once you catch them all. In reality,you don’t need all 46, just 45,since the Blob Fish is the last one.
I wandered all over the world until it hit me:what if I just waited in one fishing spot until a different fish appeared?That’s what I did.And it worked! So, that’show you catch the Blob FIsh in Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant.
While I believe any fishing spot will do the trick, I chose the first one in Mushroom Forest just for nostalgia.After pressing Rest around 20 times, a new, big fish appeared.
I lured it with a smaller fish and hooked it. It was the toughest fish of all, but still fairly easy to reel in. After finally catching it, it was the Blob Fish.Reeling this bizarre one got me the Broken Heart item,which can be sold to obtain the Strongest Gunspear and Katana Deals, and also completed a tile in the Reward Board.
