Black Clovergets unnecessary hate over a lot of things, but one of the criticisms have hit home. The anime adaptation of Yuki Tabata’s work is extremely inconsistent. Especially when it comes to the portrayal of one character, Studio Pierrot tends to mess up.

Noelle has been a darling of a character inBlack Clover, but episodes from the latest arc of theBlack Clover anime have put a bit too much focus on the development of her body parts. Maybe even that would have been accepted by fans, had it just been a bit more consistent.
The Portrayal of Noelle’s Body is Inconsistent in the Black Clover Anime
Noelle Silva, the extremely talented Black Bull memberand the daughter of the Silva noble house, has faced injustice in theBlack Cloveranime. The injustice being talked about is the portrayal of her body in the anime, especially her breasts. Black Clover has followed Noelle from her teenage to adult years, but somehow, her portrayal by Yuki Tabata differs from the anime.

In the manga, Noelle is shown to have average breasts, but in the anime, they have been exaggerated to a ridiculous level. Additionally, her bosoms aren’t even animated consistently. While they are barely noticeable in some episodes, they suddenly become huge racks in others.
Noelle’s battle with Vanica in her Valkyrie Dress: Mermaid Form can simply be considered fan service from Studio Pierrot. Fans have noticed the drastic difference and have pointed it out by claiming that the anime staff just can’t decide what Noelle’s breasts should look like.

The Black Bull cloak that Noelle usually wears might be hiding her actual breast size, but the anime’s deviation from the manga is still extremely noticeable. Her Valkyrie forms also accentuate her chest a lot more than her usual attire, butYuki Tabatahas never portrayed them as lewdly as the anime studio likes to.
Studio Pierrot is Making the Same Mistake with Noelle that Toei Did withOne Piece‘s Nami
One Pieceanime fans have noticed on several occasions that Nami’s chest has been inconsistently portrayed.Eiichiro Oda has gradually developed her bodyover the years as she became an adult from a teenager, butToei Animation failed to do so. In fact, the only thing they have been consistent at is making Nami’s chest bigger and bigger with each passing day.
Most of the time, the one who catches criticism for this type of portrayal ends up being the mangaka like Yuki Tabata and Eiichiro Oda. However, on closer observation, both of the mangakas have actually developed the maturity of their female characters, and it’s the anime studio that just could not wait before giving them huge jugs.

Most of the time, anime versions add a lot more fanservice than what the author intended. In fact, in the manga, both Nami and Noelle’s breasts aren’t the center of attention, while the anime intentionally focuses on them. While this might make some fans happy, others simply wish that the amount of fanservice and female objectification were toned down a bit.
Black CloverandOne Piecemanga are available to read on Viz Media, and the anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
