Even veteran FromSoftware players would have been surprised by the first few bosses inShadow of the Erdtree.Elden Ring’s DLC was stated to be for players who have reached the late game, but even that might have been underselling its difficulty.
Out of all the new bosses in the expansion, the final one is considered the most difficult. This is not only because of their strength but also because of a few other mechanics, some of which can get annoying. Regardless, one theory states we should have help with this fight, which makes sense. Be warned, there are story spoilers ahead!
Fans Believe One Boss Should Have Invaded During Shadow of the Erdtree’s Final Boss
The intricate story ofShadow of the Erdtreepaints the picture of a wronged race and how many of their descendants harbor intense negative feelings against Messmer, Marika, and even the Tarnished. The very first boss many will encounter, the Divine Beast Dancing Lion, is a remnant of the war against Messmer, and finding an NPC offers more lore on their hatred towards Marika and her ilk.

Hornsent Grandam can only be spoken to after acquiring the Divine Beast Head, and they explain their hatred towards Marika. Hornsent will also share some lore about his people’s hatred. Given that the people of the Land of Shadow are so staunchly against Marika, it would make sense for the protectors to do everything they could to oust any outsiders from their realm.
This was a theory discussed in a thread created by Redditor xobeydrake. The original post spoke about how the entire DLC has only three mandatory bosses required to complete the story. Many can be skipped simply by finding alternate routes. Due to this, one commenter had aninteresting theory to discuss regarding the final boss of the DLC.
It would be interesting to see a world boss appear during a major boss fight as a third party. Not only would it have been an epic showdown, but it would also be a first for FromSoftware to have a boss invade during another boss fight.

Lore-wise, fans of the game are finding out new things every day. FromSoftware is known to hide even the biggest narrative hints in the most obscure locations. The more people understand the story, the more fun theories we can expect to see popping up.
